Thomas (6-0, 178, 4.3) is rated as the nation's 10th-best cornerback prospect by Scout.com. He is also ranked as the 11th-best overall prospect in the state of Georgia.
He verbaled to nearby Georgia Tech on Sept. 8. However, he told Bucknuts.com he plans to make visits to Ohio State Nov. 19 for the Michigan game weekend as well as to Clemson Dec. 3 and LSU Jan. 15. He plans to visit Georgia Tech in January as well.
"I am still committed to Georgia Tech," Thomas said. "They know about (the other visits). They're cool about it. I am just taking some other visits to make sure I am making the right decision."
Regarding Ohio State, Thomas said, "I talk to (OSU assistant Mel) Tucker a lot. They're a good team. I wouldn't mind playing for them."
The lure for Georgia Tech is it's nearby and, in Thomas' words, he can "get early playing time there." In fact, Georgia Tech said Thomas would likely begin his career as a receiver. OSU is recruiting him as a corner.
Thomas, also a fine baseball player, had 20 catches and five touchdowns as a junior. This year, he has three interceptions on defense and over 1,000 yards all purpose. For the season, Thomas has rushed the ball 20 times for 243 yards and one touchdown, he has caught 21 passes for 318 yards and three scores, he has returned two kicks for touchdowns and defensively he has 18 tackles and one interception.
"I think I'm a pretty good shut down corner," Thomas said. "I like working against receivers."
Thomas holds a 2.5 GPA and scored an 890 on the SAT.
