"I'm going to Duke this weekend, and then up to Ohio State for the 10th," Russell said. "That will likely be it."
Russell has ex-teammates at Duke but also was very impressed with his unofficial visit to Ohio State earlier this season. Look for a choice from Russell within the next three weeks.
"I told both head coaches I will be making my decision after my Ohio State visit," Russell said. "I'll likely have a decision before Christmas."
Russell plays on both sides of the ball in high school, but it doesn't matter to him where he plays in college.
"I don't really care which I play," he said. "In high school, I played more running back.
"Ohio State is recruiting me as a safety and Duke is recruiting me as a running back."
Russell plans on working on his weight this winter instead of playing a sport.
"I'm not playing a winter sport. I want to get my weight back up. I got worn down during football season.
"I want to get up to 200 pounds by summer... I won't play a winter sport, but I will be running track this spring."
Russell also does not plan to play in any games this summer.
"I'm invited to the North/South All-Star game and there are several others down here, but I am not playing," he said.
Russell stands in at 6-0 and listed his weight earlier in the year at 197. He reports a 40-time of 4.44, a 34-inch vertical, a 4.34 shuttle and 18 reps of 185 at Ohio State camp.
