The Ohio State Buckeyes fell short for the signature of linebacker Rico McCoy of St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. McCoy has announced his intentions to play his college football for Tennessee.
McCoy's decision was announced a short time ago during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Ohio State had been high on McCoy's list since early in the recruiting process, but off-the-field concerns for Ohio State as well as a strong official visit to Tennessee helped push the Volunteers over the top.
McCoy will likely be an outside linebacker.
"I love to hit and everything, don't get me wrong, but I'm an outside linebacker naturally," McCoy said. "I played inside linebacker here for my high school team, but I'm projected as an outside linebacker."
McCoy had 118 tackles, seven sacks, eight tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and eight rushing touchdowns as a senior. He had over 120 tackles, five sacks, and forced three fumbles as a junior.
