Once again, Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio is host to some of the Buckeye State's top talent. So far, at least four players -- defensive end Robert Rose, offensive lineman Bryant Browning, wide receiver Daven Jones, and wide receiver/defensive back Ray Small -- already have offers from major colleges.
One of the most impressive offer lists belongs to Ray Small. Small (6-0, 170) lists early offers from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, Ball State, and Akron. Small seems to be focused on a short list of schools though.
"Outside of Ohio State, it's Miami (Fla.) and USC," Small said. "I really can't think of any others that I really want to hear from."
Small said he was offered by OSU when he was down in Columbus for the Blue Chip Banquet. He plans on camping at Ohio State as well as several other schools, which has become a normal summertime activity for the Glenville players.
"I'm going to camp," Small said. "I'm going to several with the team. I'll definitely be coming down to Ohio State."
Small is a fine athlete and can play a number of positions. He did indicate he had a preference.
"People are talking about cornerback, but I really want to play receiver," Small said. "I think I'm a gamebreaker.
"(Last year) I played mostly wingback and some corner."
Another thing that has become commonplace with Glenville football is speed. Small is one of this year's top speedsters for the Tarblooders.
"I'm running indoor track right now," Small said. "My best 55 meters is 6.3. My best 100 was a 10.7 last year (as a sophomore)."
Despite the early offers, don't expect an early decision from Small.
"I am going to go through the process," he said. "I will take a few visits."
