What's inside the April issue of Bucknuts? Let's take a look...

Ted Ginn

The Emergence Of Ted Ginn: It took Ted Ginn all of a few games to become known as quite possibly the most electric player in the nation. Somehow, it seems like it's only just beginning for this super talent. Steve Helwagen has an in-depth feature on Ginn in this issue.

Justin Zwick

Questions To Answer - Who will be the starting quarterback next year? What about tailback? Who will have the impossible task of trying to fill Mike Nugent's shoes at kicker? Steve Helwagen talks about the top questions surrounding this year's  Ohio State squad as spring practice kicks into gear.

Santonio Holmes
Offensive Outlook -- Ohio State's offense made a 180-degree turnaround towards the end of the 2004 season. With most of the offense's starters returning, will the offense be explosive in 2005? Dave Biddle looks at the key issues heading into the spring.

A.J. Hawk

Defensive Outlook - Like the offense, the defense improved as the season went along, and by the time the Alamo Bowl came around, the Silver Bullets were back. With nine starters back, there appears to be reason to believe that next year's defense will outstanding. Charles Babb discusses what to look for this spring from the defense in this issue.

Donte Whitner

Whitner Brings The Pain - Donte Whitner came to OSU as a five-star blue-chip defensive back prospect with a reputation for big hits. Steve Helwagen has a report on Whitner and his progress at OSU.

Marcus Green during winter workouts

Bright N' Early - Wintertime doesn't mean the training stops for OSU football. When the snow falls in February, the Buckeyes start their early morning winter workout sessions. Dave Biddle has a look at OSU's 6 a.m. winter workouts.

OL Rob Sims

Sims Enters Senior Year - Rob Sims' arrival as a freshman in 2002 seems like just yesterday, but the offensive lineman is already entering his final season of Buckeye football. Steve Helwagen has more on Sims, who is expected to be a senior leader on the line this year.

Steve Rehring

Rehring Emerges - Freshman OL Steve Rehring came to Ohio State in time for spring practice last year to get an early start on his career, but it originally looked like he would redshirt. The redshirt came off after a few games though, and Rehring showed the strides he continues to make as he becomes a bigger part of the offensive line. We have more on Rehring's freshman season in this issue.

Rob Rose of Cleveland Glenville

Junior Prospect Update - Now that the first round of scholarship offers have been extended and tapes have been reviewed, how does this year's junior class of Ohio talent stack up? Duane Long checks in with a quick look at this year's class of Ohio talent by position and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses.

James Laurinaitis

Laurinaitis Excited To Be a Buckeye - When linebacker James Laurinaitis of Plymouth, Minnesota committed to OSU back in December, it came as a bit of a surprise since he had already verbaled to the University of Minnesota. But Laurinatis decided to choose OSU instead, and the tackling machine couldn't be more excited to be coming to Columbus. Gary Housteau has a feature on this fine prospect.

Brian Robiskie

Better Late Than Never - It was starting to look like wide receiver Brian Robiskie of Chagrin Falls (Oh.) was going to be playing his football in Coral Gables, Fla. for the Miami Hurricanes. Ohio State had continued to remain in the picture for Robiskie though, and in January, the Buckeyes came through with a late offer. That changed things for Robiskie, who decided to stay in the Buckeye State and play for OSU. Gary Housteau has Robiskie's story in this issue.

Thad Matta

Men's Hoops Team Wraps Up Season - The 2004-2005 men's basketball season will be remembered for both the thrilling win over unbeaten Illinois and the university's decision to impose a postseason ban. Steve Helwagen has a look back at this year's season and a look ahead at what to expect next year.

Matt Sylvester

Sylvester Steps Up - Matt Sylvester had his share of ups and downs during his first years as a Buckeye, but he had a solid 2004-05 season, averaging 8.0 points and playing about 20 minutes a game. And who can forget what he did against Illinois...  Dave Biddle has an article on Sylvester's progress this season.

Jessica Davenport

Monster Season For Davenport - The OSU women's team had a breakout year, and it was largely due to the huge season from Big Ten Player of the Year and Wooden Award finalist Jessica Davenport. The sophomore averaged 19.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and had 105 blocked shots (the next highest total on the team was just 8).  Dave Biddle looks back on Davenport's sophomore season in this issue.

Gene Smith

Mr. Smith Comes To Columbus - After performing well as Arizona State athletic director, Gene Smith decided to come back home to Ohio and take on the challenge of the athletic director position at Ohio State. Steve Helwagen has more on the new athletic director in this issue.

And more, including...
  • Getting to know new OSU football assistant Paul Haynes

  • Biddle on rising baseball star Jacob Howell

  • Helwagen on John Havlicek's retirement ceremony

  • The next segment in Steve Helwagen's Fiesta Bowl review -- the first overtime

  • Biddle on hockey standout Rod Pelley
