We spoke with Indiana prep player Luke Harangody to catch up with things now that his team's season has ended. The Merrillville (IN) Andrean star is a 6-8 power forward/center that Ohio State likes a lot.
This season, Harangody averaged 23.2 points a game and 12.3 rebounds in leading Andrean to the class 3A Plymouth Regional before Andrean was defeated 58-56.
Here is a transcript of the interview.
BN: "Your team was upset in the regional by Twin Lakes, what do you think happened?"
"I think we just didn't play our best game. We just didn't come out to play and got upset. It was a tough loss for us, but I don't know, it was just a tough loss."
BN: "What's your main focus now that the season has ended and AAU has begun?"
"I just am working on my body. I'm working on getting stronger. "
BN: "Other than your desire to stay close to home, what is going to be the biggest factor or factor when choosing a college this summer or fall?"
"I think the biggest factor is being comfortable and relaxed wherever I go. I want to feel comfortable with the coaches and the players there. "
BN: "What teams are you considering right now?"
"Ohio State, Purdue, Northwestern, Notre Dame. "
BN: "Do you have any visits set up yet to colleges?"
"No, but Indiana and Purdue are visiting me at school tomorrow and Ohio State is coming later. "
"What do you think of the job Thad Matta did in his first season as the Ohio State head coach?"
"I think he did great coming in and taking over. Without any of his own players, he had a great season. "
BN: "What position is Ohio State recruiting you as the most, or have they recruited you as someone who could play either the four or the five?"
"They are recruiting me as a four. "
BN: "Tell me a little about your list of schools and kind of give me a positive and negative for each of the main schools."
"Ohio State, I love the coaching staff and like the university. I just really like Coach Matta a lot. Purdue, I also like Matt Painter and the campus. Northwestern, once again I like Coach Carmody a lot. I visited and had a good visit down there. I like Coach Brey. They haven't contacted me in a while, so I'm not sure what's up with them. I like their staff and their campus. "
BN: "Are there any players you can think of that you would compare yourself to, and for those who haven't seen you play, could you describe the type of player you are?"
"I would compare myself to Mike Wilkinson of Wisconsin."
