Pinkston A Hot Commodity

Ohio State is working the state of Pennsylvania hard again this year, and one of the players they are particularly interested in is Jason Pinkston of Pittsburgh Baldwin. We caught up with Pinkston for a recruiting update. Click the link to check it out.

Perhaps the top lineman in the state of Pennsylvania this year is Jason Pinkston, a DT/OL from Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh. Pinkston stands at 6-4, 260 and has been clocked at 4.9 in the 40. Among the schools Pinkston claims offers from include Georgia, Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Penn State, Rutgers, Connecticut, Iowa and Akron.

Of those schools, Pinkston does not seem to be close to having a favorite or even a list of favorites.

"I want to get around and see as many of these schools as possible," he said. "I want to see what they have to offer me and where I fit in best."

Pinkston's offers are from all over the eastern half of the United States, and he says that distance will not be a factor in his decision.

"I am not concerned about distance away from home," he said. "That will not be an issue."

Pinkston has been listed as one of the top 10 prospects in Pennsylvania by analyst Bob Lichtenfels. Ohio State has been recruiting Pinkston for quite some time.

"It's been awhile since Ohio State offered me," Pinkston said. "Coach (Joe) Daniels is recruiting me. Good program. They are doing great things down there."

Pinkston plays basketball but does not play a spring sport.

"I don't run track," he said. "I just run and lift during the spring."

Pinkston has not decided on a college major. He tests June 4th and has a 2.9 core GPA. He will likely take some time with the recruiting process before choosing a college.

"I am not likely to a make a decision anytime soon," he said.
