State Track Preliminaries Photo Gallery

The state track championships got underway today in Columbus. As the majority of the events to take place in the finals take place today, the sprints, hurdles and relays are still in the preliminary round, with the finals coming tomorrow. Jahmal Brown of Benedictine, competing in relays and the 100

Canton GlenOak's Brian Hartline, who has rebounded from a broken leg suffered in the first game of his football season, won his heat in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. His 36.87 in the 300 shaved a tenth off his time from regionals and was the best prelim time

Glenville's Freddie Lenix in a leg of the 4x200 relay. Glenville won its heat in 1:26.43. Lenix also qualified for the finals in the 100 and 200.

Weather was cooperating early at the state meet with sunshine and temps in the low 70s. But even on a hot day, athletes like Glenville's Freddie Lenix protect their muscles by wearing layers of sweats.

Glenville's Jamario O'Neal runs a leg of the 4x100 relay. Glenville finished second in its heat to Canton McKinley. Glenville's time was 42.70.
