Aaron Gant wasn't a name that was heard much in recruiting circles before the start of the season. In recent weeks, however, Gant has emerged as a hot commodity.
Gant recently received offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Washington, which seem to be his four schools of focus right now.
"I was offered by Ohio State about three weeks ago," Gant said. "(DBs coach Paul) Haynes is recruiting me."
Gant has official visits scheduled to Washington and Ohio State in January, which may be his only two official visits.
"I will visit Washington on the first week of January and Ohio State on the second week," he said. "I might just visit those two. I might go to Michigan. I might go to Michigan State."
The 6-0, 200 pound Gant has played fullback and linebacker for Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's but says safety could be his college position.
"I really don't care which position I play but just about everybody is talking about safety," he said.
Gant has taken an unofficial visit to Michigan and is familiar with some players on the Michigan team. Gant recently told GoBlueWolverine.com that the Wolverines were the leader.
"I like Michigan mainly because I know everybody up there... Right now I've got a lot of love for Michigan," the Web site reported.
Gant, however, told Bucknuts.com that he would not rule out Ohio State if the visit was a good one.
"Chances are if things go well with that Ohio State visit I will likely commit and not take any other visits," he said.
Gant camped at Michigan State this summer and was also planning to stop by Ohio State recently.
"I was supposed to go down to practice at Ohio State this weekend but my schedule just wouldn't let that happen," he said.
Gant took his SAT last week and expects to receive a score soon.
