Last week, news surfaced of two under-the-radar prospects who have caught the eye of several fine programs: DB Wondy Pierre-Louis and DB Culmer St. Jean of Naples (Fla.) Lely. Both players have received contact from a handful of schools in the Midwest, including Minnesota, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.
St. Jean (6-1, 215) already lists offers from the Mountaineers, Badgers and Gophers. He expects Ohio State to throw their hat in the ring soon.
"(One of the DB coaches) was supposed to come down this weekend with one of the other coaches," St. Jean said. "I have not been offered yet but the visit was supposed to take care of that."
St. Jean says he will visit Ohio State if an offer comes.
"As soon as I am offered I will visit," he said. "I have already been to Wisconsin, Minnesota and West Virginia... I am hopeful I get an opportunity to visit Ohio State."
St. Jean attended the Nike combine in the spring but did not attend any team camps. He shined on both sides of the ball for Lely and threw for over 1,000 yards as a quarterback, but he will likely play defense in college.
"I am being recruited as a safety or linebacker," he said. "Nobody is really recruiting me at one of the other. We will see when I get there.
"Only in key games did I play defense. I played quarterback on offense."
St. Jean and Pierre-Louis have each visited the same schools and have been quoted as saying they'd like to attend school together. Both were born outside of the United States and are used to the warm weather of Florida but have spent some time in the winter weather of the north during their December visits.
"The cold was not great when I went up to Wisconsin and Minnesota but it will not have an impact on my decision though," St. Jean said.
St. Jean also plays basketball and runs track and is fully qualified. He expects to take all his visits before making a final choice.
"I look at all my options," he said. "I am unsure about when I will make my decision. I want to take a good look at all my options before I make a decision. I am going to (South Florida) for a visit, too."
