Olson (6-1, 250) is a prototypical fullback prospect, according to Irmo coach Bob Hanna.
"We had him at tight end some and we also used him as an H-back," Hanna said. "We used him primarily as a blocking back. We had one tailback with 1,600 yards and a second guy with 800. Aram was right at 400 yards. He is a good H-back and a great fullback. He opened up a lot of things for our tailbacks."
Olson was a key component on Irmo's 9-3 playoff squad.
According to Hanna, Olson is also planning on making official visits to Florida State, Auburn, Alabama and Texas A&M. He will reportedly see Auburn Jan. 13, Alabama Jan. 15 and FSU Jan. 20. OSU assistant coach Dick Tressel made an in-home visit with Olson on Thursday.
"All of those schools have offered," Hanna said. "I think he is planning on taking those visits and deciding at the end of the month. In my opinion, I think he may be leaning toward Ohio State. He is originally from Wisconsin and I think he might like to play in the North."
Hanna vouched for Olson off the field as well.
"He is a heck of a kid," Hanna said. "He has a 4.5 GPA and a 1200 on the SAT. Plus, he is as strong as a bull. He can clean over 300 pounds and benches 400. Plus, he's got pretty good speed."
Olson got his first look at OSU for an unofficial visit for the Illinois game. OSU is in the market for a blocking back as starting fullback Stan White Jr. will be a senior and backup Dionte Johnson will be a junior in 2006.
