Tallahassee (Fla.) Amos Godby DB Marcus Udell is one of the top remaining uncommitted defensive back prospects in the Sunshine State. Udell (5-11, 185, 4.5) could play cornerback or safety at the next level.
He had a fine season for Godby high school.
"I had 8 interceptions and 18 pass breakups and 50 tackles on the year," Udell said. "The last two games I played on offense. In the first one, I was offense player of the week. In the next game I had 3 catches for over 60 yards plus an interception on defense."
So far, Udell has taken an official visits to North Carolina State and was scheduled to visit Maryland on 12/16.
"I will visit Alabama this weekend," he said. "Then I have LSU. Maybe I have LSU."
Udell has scholarship offers from NC State, Alabama, Florida, Iowa, Clemson, and others. Ohio State has also offered, but the Buckeyes may have to reopen communication in order to get back in the picture.
"I was thinking about a visit up there but that wasn't going to happen until I got an offer," Udell said. "I got an offer but now I have not heard from them for a while."
He says, however, that he is still interested in visiting.
"If Ohio State would ask me to come up I would definitely think about it," he said.
Udell is rated as the No. 48 CB prospect nationally by Scout.com. The Orlando
Sentinel ranks Udell as the No. 17 overall prospect in the state of Florida.
