Olson Makes Weekend Trip To Auburn

We have comments from Aram Olson's mother on his weekend visit to Auburn. Olson is set to make one more official visit next weekend, then will consider his college choices. Click here for more on this fullback prospect from South Carolina.

Columbia (S.C.) Irmo fullback Aram Olson did, indeed, make his scheduled official visit to Auburn this weekend.

Olson, who visited Ohio State last weekend, was unavailable for comment Sunday night. But we did have a chance to speak with his mother, Beverly, on how the trip went.

"Auburn has a great campus," Beverly Olson said. "It is just very pretty. From the layout, it is a college town. The college is the town.

"Their staff is what stands out. We met with Coach Tuberville, (running backs coach Eddie) Gran and (offensive coordinator) Al Borges. They were good people and they are good coaches."

Olson is now set to wrap up his visits Jan. 20 at Florida State. Beverly Olson discussed the schedule for head coaches set to make in-home visits.

"Jim Tressel is scheduled to be here Wednesday morning," she said. "Coach Tuberville will be here a week from Monday. Bobby Bowden is supposed to be here on the 25th.

"Florida State should be the last visit. He wasn't able to get over to Texas A&M. The plan was to go there for the extended weekend, but it didn't work out. He decided to just concentrate on these three.

"He is just working now on getting information on these schools and getting to the campuses for the visits."

Olson (6-1, 250) is a prototypical fullback prospect, according to Irmo coach Bob Hanna. He was a key component on Irmo's 9-3 playoff squad.

Olson has a 4.5 GPA and a 1200 on the SAT. He can clean over 300 pounds and benches 400. Plus, he's got pretty good speed.

Olson got his first look at OSU for an unofficial visit for the Illinois game. OSU is in the market for a blocking back as starting fullback Stan White Jr. will be a senior and backup Dionte Johnson will be a junior in 2006.
