Bucknuts TV: Spring Review - Defense

With nine starters gone, many have wondered if the Buckeyes would be able to put together a defense that will be on a championship level. But from what the team showed in the spring, they may be much closer than originally thought. In the next segment of our spring review video feature, managing editor Steve Helwagen and assistant editor Dave Biddle give their latest analysis of the OSU defense based on spring observations.

When a defense loses A.J. Hawk, Bobby Carpenter, Ashton Youboty, Mike Kudla, Anthony Schlegel, Nate Salley, Marcus Green, and Tyler Everett, a rebuilding year would normally be expected. But not with the 2006 Buckeyes, who are being picked by some as the preseason No. 1 despite losing a plethora of defensive talent.

Some questioned if the defense would be ready to compete on that level, but if the spring is any indication, things might be better than expected. In part three of a video series reviewing the spring game, Bucknuts managing editor Steve Helwagen and assistant editor Dave Biddle discuss their observations of the Buckeye defense during the spring and what to expect this season.
