Mabin Duplicates Strong Showing At OSU Nike

Macedonia (Ohio) Nordonia running back/defensive back Jordan Mabin has offers from the likes of Pittsburgh and Indiana already. But after another strong showing at the Nike Camp at Ohio State on Friday, it is possible that Mabin could be hearing from more schools any day now. Click here for more on Mabin.

Macedonia (Ohio) Nordonia running back/defensive back Jordan Mabin followed up his successful showing at the combine in Pittsburgh in March with another strong display at Friday's Nike Camp at Ohio State.

"The competition was real good here and there were a lot of great coaches here as well," Mabin said. "That helps you to play even better. It was a real good atmosphere. I thought I did well testing wise and I thought I did pretty well in the one-on-one drills as well."

At Pitt, the 6-0, 180-pound Mabin was clocked at 4.44 and 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash. At OSU on Friday, Mabin was right in line with those times as he was clocked at 4.45 seconds in the 40.

"The fastest guy (Middletown's Skylar Jones) had a 4.3," Mabin said. "I was probably one of the ones up there on top of the chart, but definitely not the fastest."

At Pitt, Mabin was timed at 4.16 seconds in the pro shuttle. He lowered that time to 4.12 seconds at the OSU Nike Camp. He also showed a 32-inch vertical leap and was able to bench press 175 pounds an impressive 22 times.

Of course, Mabin's play for Nordonia has said quite a bit. As a junior, Mabin carried the ball 220 times for 1,495 yards (6.8 average) and 22 touchdowns as Nordonia posted a 6-4 record. That followed a sophomore year where Mabin rushed for 1,775 yards and scored 25 touchdowns.

In terms of colleges, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Akron and Kent State have stepped forward to offer the versatile Mabin. His cousin, Dorin Dickerson of Allegheny, Pa., will enroll at Pitt this fall.

Mabin plans a trip this weekend for unofficial visits at two schools in the Bluegrass state.

"We're going down to Louisville and Kentucky this week," he said. "I want to check out those two schools. And, from here, I just want to see what opens up and see what happens. I am open to everyone right now. I don't have a true favorite."

Mabin said that Ohio State has been in touch as well.

"They were talking to me before," Mabin said. "They were out here at the camp. They said they wanted to see how I did at the camp. I imagine I will hear from them pretty soon. I'll just take it from there and see how it goes."

Mabin scored a 20 on the ACT and had a 3.4 GPA in the last grading period.
