Florida DB Black Weighing His Options

Lakeland, Fla, cornerback Ahmad Black recently picked offers from Ohio State and several other schools. The Buckeyes have had success recruting Florida over the last decade and they are hoping that trend will continue. We caught up with Black for more.

Cornerback Ahmad Black from Lakeland, Fla., is starting to see the offers pour in.

"I just got one from North Carolina (Tuesday) and South Carolina (Wednesday)," Black said. "I've also got Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, UNC, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Colorado and Michigan."

Black (5-10, 175, 4.45) is being recruited by OSU cornerbacks coach Tim Beckman.

"It was good getting an offer from Ohio State," Black said. "I think they just saw my highlight tape."

He was asked what he knows about OSU's program.

"I know they got a lot of good skilled players and put a lot of people in the NFL," he said.

Black is uncertain if he will attend OSU's second one-day camp on June 23.

"I'm not sure, because it's a long way," he said.

Black has no favorites and is not in a hurry to make a decision.

"Probably after the season sometime," he said "I'm just taking it all in right now. No favorite."

While helping lead Lakeland Senior to the Class 5A state championship in 2005, Black had 70 tackles and six interceptions. He was also the second leading scorer on his school's varsity basketball team.

"I have real quick feet to play corner," Black told Scout.com "And I'm one of those guys who can play either corner or safety. I just love being out there."
