OSU Welcomes In Prospects For Senior Camp

We take a look at some of the key prospects in attendance at Friday's senior advanced camp at Ohio State. We have notables on several of the prospects in attendance. One of the key names was Toledo Central Catholic wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher.

Rainy skies put a bit of a damper on Ohio State's second senior advanced camp for the summer. But the OSU staff welcomed in well in excess of 300 prospects for the camp, which was conducted for the most part inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Because of the number of players involved and the lack of dry area, the staff cut out 40-yard dash testing from this camp.

But the players did go through other testing as well as position drills and competitions.

Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's defensive back Dionte Allen was at the camp, but did not work out. Allen already has an offer from the Buckeyes. OSU verbal Nate Oliver of Lakewood St. Edward was also in attendance.

Bloomington (Ill.) Central Catholic defensive lineman Josh Brent also attended the camp, but did not work out. He also has an OSU offer on the table.

Here is a position-by-position look at some of the key players in attendance with notables:

* Quarterback -- Justin Siller, Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary Prep.

* Running back -- Boom Herron, Warren (Ohio) Harding. Herron was reportedly very impressive and could merit a scholarship offer.

* Wide receiver -- Dane Sanzenbacher, Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic; Taurian Washington, Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary Prep; Dante Jackson, Greenfield (Ohio) McClain. Sanzenbacher and Washington were each very impressive and could get offer consideration, sources said.

* Offensive linemen -- J.B. Shugarts, Spring, Texas; Evan Blankenship, Monaca (Pa.) Area; Mark Wetterer, Cincinnati Anderson. Shugarts is a junior and is considered one of the top 2008 prospects in Texas. Blankenship had an offer from OSU previously and was seen with offensive coordinator Jim Bollman – who attended the camp after recent health concerns – after the camp.

* Defensive linemen -- Solomon Thomas, West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West; Antonio Jeremiah, Hilliard (Ohio) Darby; Charlie Hatcher, Hamilton, Ohio; Myles Caragein, Pittsburgh Keystone Oaks; Ryan Kerrigan, Muncie (Ind.) Central. Virginia Tech and N.C. State are after Thomas, who may be in consideration for an OSU offer. Jeremiah was also impressive and is also waiting for OSU to offer.

* Linebackers -- Andrew Dailey, Massillon (Ohio) Washington.

* Defensive backs -- Skylar Jones, Middletown, Ohio; David Arnold, Copley, Ohio; Donnie Evege, Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne; Rocco Pentello, Westerville (Ohio) South; Devon Torrence, Canton South. Evege is already committed to the Buckeyes. Pentello has several offers, including Cincinnati. Arnold could be an intriguing prospect. Torrence is also a contender for an OSU offer.
