Bucknuts Fan Club - Chat Transcript (7/24)

Here is the Bucknuts Fan Club Chat Transcript from yesterday's chat.

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 1:45:24 PM)
Alright...where's the worms for us early birds?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:45:59 PM)
Still waiting for people to arrive I guess

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 1:46:38 PM)
I say the Buckeyes go undefeated this year. Any questions?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:47:27 PM)
Hi dave

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:47:34 PM)
hey kirk!

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 1:48:27 PM)
Hey guys - tell old Mr. Bucknuts what you like or dislike about the new Bucknuts Fan Club...

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:48:55 PM)
I think we should get the obvious question out of the way first - anything on Morris yet (I know Kirk will like this one!)

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:49:24 PM)
i took what tressel had to say as a good sign if anything

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:49:42 PM)
He didn't close the door

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:49:56 PM)
From what I've read, we may not hear anything on him ( Morris) for a while.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:50:04 PM)
yeah, if he's pessimistic, he doesn't say anything imo

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:50:38 PM)
Wonder if he'll be able to show up at practice next week. I'd guess not since he hasn't officially qualified.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:50:59 PM)
the way i look at it is we'll know for sure on monday

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:51:01 PM)
In the past, we have found out about ineligible players after practice has already started. This could be the case here. I remember Larry Kinnard found out he was ineligible, then he packed up his stuff and went home

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:51:08 PM)
or maybe not

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:51:22 PM)
I think the NCAA could let him practice while he waits for their decision

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:51:41 PM)
Oh well, on to the fan club . . .

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:52:10 PM)
Mr. Bucknuts is pouting because no one answered his question

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:52:12 PM)

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:52:18 PM)
I really like the e-mail updates, and will probably like them even more after the season starts.

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:52:22 PM)
I'd still rather have him there than not. for my own selfish reasons.

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:52:39 PM)
norfolk - Mr. Bucknuts? :-)

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:52:53 PM)
he's still puzzled about the moehler trade

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:52:55 PM)
I would like to see him there as well. I don't think he will leave or go elsewhere.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:53:12 PM)
Mr. Bucknuts hates baseball

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:53:16 PM)
You guys must really like Mr. Bucknuts!

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:53:27 PM)
Now about this quarter back thing...

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:53:54 PM)
Ah yes, the QBs

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:54:04 PM)

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:54:21 PM)
or the recruits?

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:54:23 PM)
i'm not jumping for joy right now.

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 1:54:24 PM)
Krenzel will start and Zwick will be in the two-deep by the UC game...

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:54:35 PM)
We have controversies on the team AND recruiting!

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:55:09 PM)
I am hoping Krenzel can hold down the #1 spot. I'm not jumping for joy either. My confidence in McMullen is zero and who knows what the freshmen will do?

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:55:11 PM)
they never end. it's a cooper hold over. lol

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:55:35 PM)
McMullen has actually looked good this summer. All the players are talking about him in 7/7

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:55:41 PM)
It is always nice to hold wildcards - Smith

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:55:50 PM)
sort of the samew situation wew had for the past 4 years huh kirk?

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:56:13 PM)
i'm heavy on the "w"'s

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:56:24 PM)
If McMullen can step up and give OSU two solid QBs, that would be wonderful, but the Illinois game still gives me nightmares

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:56:32 PM)
Krenzel or whomever, I think we can cut down on the mistakes, and that will be a huge diffrerence

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:56:33 PM)
yeah, he looked lost

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:57:02 PM)
norfolk, yep, the QB situation is getting old... in the back of my mind, there's always the possibility that it won't go away this year either

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 1:57:10 PM)
According to Duane Long, the "wild card" is Darryl Clark. Unfortunately, he will be a junior in high school this year...

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:57:22 PM)

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:57:24 PM)
At least UM's QB is lousy too :)

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:57:39 PM)
UM has the Belli syndrome

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 1:57:40 PM)
"Bellisari without the mobility"

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:57:43 PM)
You guys think Spencer Brinton will beat out Navarre?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:58:03 PM)
The fact that he hasn't already tells me he isn't that great

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:58:09 PM)
I thing he has a better chance than any of the others FWIW

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:58:10 PM)
i feel the same way. that and all this preseaon hype is a recipe for a mediocre season.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 1:58:37 PM)
preseason hype for who?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:59:14 PM)
The thing about it is we can talk about the holes in the team over and over, but when you look at the schedule, the Buckeyes could still have a shot at the Big Ten title if certain things don't fall their way

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 1:59:19 PM)
for us.

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 1:59:37 PM)
Any special words of wisdom Mr. Biddle?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 1:59:49 PM)
Hi eastcoastbuck

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:00:01 PM)
vote early and often

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:00:07 PM)
You misspelled Kirk

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:00:24 PM)
No inside stuff?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:00:34 PM)
gimme specifics

eeastcoastbuck (ID=10) (Jul 24, 2002 2:00:55 PM)
hi everyone

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:01:01 PM)
I was looking to you for specifics

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:01:15 PM)
Mr. Bucknuts still won't give up his obsession over Matt Zahn

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:01:33 PM)
i'm looking forward to next week when the freshman report.

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 2:01:52 PM)
Zahn is up to 435 pounds according to his high school coach, Tim Boeckman...

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:01:57 PM)
Rossford: if you're talking about sleepers, i'd say Ivan Douglas, Will Allen, Schnittker

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:02:13 PM)
At least it will be some action, folkn

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:02:21 PM)
Dave, I have a question... do you think Cie Grant will sit in favor of putting D'Andrea in the starting lineup? Are you not-so-confident in Cie?

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:02:31 PM)
I like Schnittker too

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:02:41 PM)
I don't think it will be an issue because all four LBs will play a lot

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:02:42 PM)
I think he'll have a good year

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:03:15 PM)
My prediction on the next Spielman is Hawk

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:03:32 PM)
Not the tops as far as athleticism, but a big heart

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:03:43 PM)
keep the Q's coming guys... Is everyone as excited as I for this season???

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:03:52 PM)

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:04:06 PM)
Hawk is a great playmaker. Overall speed was the only thing I was concerned about when I saw him, but the reviews are good since then.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:04:14 PM)
Hi galion

galion (ID=12) (Jul 24, 2002 2:04:40 PM)
Hello, I am a rookie Chatter!

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:04:41 PM)
I just like Hawk's attitude, not unlike Spielman's

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:04:47 PM)
I am excited for the season in many ways! I am not looking forward to the first loss though

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:05:15 PM)
Hawk, D'Andrea and Carpenter all seem to share that "quiet confidence" attitude.

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:05:19 PM)
Hopefully late in the season Kirk, but not TOO late if you knwo what I mean (UM)

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:05:20 PM)
saw Hawk play when he was a sophomore. I was covering for the Kettering paper and Centerville won like 63-0. Hawk's older bro was quite the QB but fell into a numbers crunch at Miami behind Roethlisberger

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:05:33 PM)
Feel free to fire away with any questions galion!

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:06:31 PM)
Roethlisberger... I saw someone say he is the top sophomore QB in America this year

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:06:58 PM)
where do you see that 1st loss kirk?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:07:02 PM)
he and Guigugli

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:07:15 PM)

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:07:36 PM)
Well, I have a bad feeling it will be to Texas Tech. I don't like the matchup. I predicted them as one of my losses.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:07:48 PM)
However, it should be close.

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:08:11 PM)
The MAC has some good young QB's period - fdon't forget that kids from Akron against us last year!

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:08:17 PM)
Do you think playing SC the last two years will help against those spread teams?

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:08:43 PM)
DiR is in the house

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:08:50 PM)
Kent's QB rushed for over 1,000 yards and passed for over 1000 as a frosh last year, we'll see him this year

galion (ID=12) (Jul 24, 2002 2:08:56 PM)
Sorry can't stay........ the businss calls! Keep up the good work though!

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:08:57 PM)
yeah, little busy this afternoon

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:09:02 PM)
Will Smith, Tim Anderson, etc. should see him close up

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:09:04 PM)

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:09:23 PM)
I get giddy thinking about Will Smith

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:10:03 PM)
put the beer down and back away ross. lol

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:10:17 PM)
One of my sleepers is Kenny Peterson. I think he will be able to create some havoc this year.

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:10:21 PM)
so, the whole Wheelwright thing, how far does he have to go on grades?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:10:39 PM)
Rossford: Another sleeper is Marcus Green. Coach Haycock said he is close to 330 pounds and still moves well and plays low. He is listed as 300, but this guy will be a nice run stuffer this year.

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:11:18 PM)
You're right, I've had enough beer

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:11:24 PM)
Haven't heard the specifics on Wheelwright's grades yet... I am guessing he has quite a while to go if OSU hasn't officially offered yet

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:11:38 PM)
Hi George and Sloopy

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:11:41 PM)
By the way Reds fans, Todd Walker just busted out a grand slam.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:11:43 PM)

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:11:44 PM)

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:12:17 PM)
The entire D-line gives you a good comfort level

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:12:29 PM)
only when there is "blue" in town

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:13:09 PM)
Dave/Kirk/BUcknuts -- give me your guesses % wise on Morris playing this year

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:13:26 PM)
100% if he qualifies

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:13:34 PM)
i think you're right ross. it's the OL that really needs to develop.

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:13:45 PM)
good one HOS

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:13:47 PM)
I'm going to go out on a limb and say 80

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:13:59 PM)
The OL is definitely our achiles heel

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:14:12 PM)
one or two injuries, and we're done for

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:14:13 PM)
probably putting too much emphasis on what Tress said yesterday, but that was a very good sign

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:14:21 PM)
are we talking about if he wualifies or if he sees the field assuming he qualifies?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:14:38 PM)
if he qualifies, he will see the field

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:14:41 PM)
DiR, I'll say 40. One other thing I have heard, in the midst of all this, is Morris is way out of shape. I don't know if that's true or not, but if so, it won't help him see early time. Still, the depth on the OL is awful...

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:14:43 PM)
if he qualifies, I assume he will see the field somewhere if he does

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:14:55 PM)
Corner doesn't worry me near as much as the OL

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:15:03 PM)

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:15:35 PM)
I will admit I haven't seen to many guys at 6'6 340+ that I would ever consider to be in good shape

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:15:35 PM)
Worse shape than A. Clarke I wonDeR???

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:15:39 PM)
My worries are 1. OL 1a. QB and then quarterback

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:15:40 PM)
It's hard not to be excited about this team. OL depth is the only big weakness, but that's a pretty big weakness to have.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:15:48 PM)
Duh, I meant OL, QB and then CB

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:16:01 PM)
corners don't really wory me. we have depth. the best will play.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:16:08 PM)
Hi Gen3Fan

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:16:16 PM)
OL will be decent, if we can just avoid injuries

Gen3Fan (ID=18) (Jul 24, 2002 2:16:17 PM)

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:16:22 PM)
Guys, I covered Andree Tyree in high school. Great kid. But if he's our 2nd team center, that's not good.

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:16:24 PM)
I think corners was the reason for the poor 3rd down eff. last year by the defense

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:16:44 PM)
Avoiding injuries is the key. As Dave said, guys like Tyree are not ready.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:16:47 PM)
I think corners will prove to be real good this year. all the critisism will be great motivation

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:17:06 PM)
I liked Dave's report on the corners. They sound motivated.

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:17:09 PM)
how many 7 ro 10 yrd passes were completed last year on 3rd down

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:17:28 PM)
Very good point DiR

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:17:29 PM)
Talked to Harlen Jacobs yesterday... add him to the list

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 2:17:38 PM)
Dave - my bet is Mangold will be the back-up center. Just not this year...

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:17:40 PM)
i think so too george. though i see the lack of experience costing us a same or 2.

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:17:47 PM)
I get the impression that the team is really upbeat this year. More so than the last few

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:17:49 PM)
that is a good point DiR... maybe over the last three years?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:18:07 PM)
I think you are definitely right Mr. B

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:18:21 PM)
They are more of a TEAM this year it seems

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:18:25 PM)
DiR I think that is a great reason for optimism too. The soap opera crap might be out the window this year, and this team may be more focused than ever

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:18:40 PM)
I am hearing awfully good things about Krenzel's leadership off the field. Anyone else seeing/hearing this?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:18:56 PM)
Dave B, do you mean Harlen is motivated? Do you think he'll see a lot of time?

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:19:01 PM)
That started right after the bowl game, DiR

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:19:20 PM)
He is definitely motivated. I've always thought he would give McNutt a serious run

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:19:22 PM)
Krenzel does seem to be taking charge. This will help I think

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:20:03 PM)
but if he struggles will they care about his leadership skills?

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:20:05 PM)
how is Lydel Ross looking this summer?

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:20:05 PM)
team spirit, a great defense and our RB stable is something to get behind.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:20:06 PM)
Krenzel is a good leader. Even the seniors (Nickey and Vance) have mentioned it.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:20:37 PM)
A better question - will Krenzel be voted captain?

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:20:45 PM)
I think our nickel package is much better this year. Having Grant at LB instead of Stratton's bit...err Courtland Bullard will help

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:20:46 PM)
Lydell is looking big, saw him only once at 7/7 and the ankle did not seem to be a problem. fast as ever

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:21:12 PM)
captains will be Krenzel/Vance; Wilhelm/Doss.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:21:28 PM)
What about Groom?

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:21:35 PM)
I hear Hall has gotten massivley strong this summer as well, is that what you have seen as well Dave B?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:21:38 PM)
Any chance of him getting voted in?

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:21:51 PM)
speaking of ankles...how's wilhelm's?

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:22:00 PM)
I must depart. This should help the chat remain focused!!

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:22:08 PM)
Kirk: I don't think Groom will get it, but there is definitely a strong chance he will

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:22:28 PM)
I could see groom getting one based on the empahsis of special teams

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:22:29 PM)
DiR: Yes, Hall is definitely bigger. I agree with Kirk that he is headed for a big year

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:22:33 PM)
I am going against the grain and predicting Hall to be the leading rusher this year

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:22:35 PM)
c ya ross

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:22:43 PM)
Hi Mike68

RossfordBuck (ID=7) (Jul 24, 2002 2:22:46 PM)
Cheers all! Looking forward to practice next week!!!!!

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:23:05 PM)
Norfolk: Wilhelm is running VERY fast

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:23:29 PM)

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:23:29 PM)
I would be happy to see all 3 guys get somewhere between 800 and 1000 yds this year based on the extra long season

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:23:43 PM)
normal season i would have said 500 to 800

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:23:44 PM)
For everyone's info... just posted Duane's latest on Donte Whitner to the Following the Recruits message board. OSU definitely seems in the mix

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:24:18 PM)
that's the problem trying to predict yards for those guys. Who isn't going to have the big year? If I had to predict order, I'd say Clarett/Hall/Ross, but I hate putting a talent like Lydell third.

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:24:25 PM)
kirk, can we match last season's recruiting?

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 2:24:30 PM)
Anything you guys want us to ask Donte when we have him live on the air in about two hours?

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:24:44 PM)
does Whitner/Hiley want to play together in college? they are on the same team now right?

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:24:52 PM)
Whitner at 5 10 170 playing LB?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:25:01 PM)
What college/NFL corners does he study?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:25:23 PM)
norfolk, I don't think there are enough scholarship spots available to make a run like last year. Also, I don't think we'll get as many blue-chippers this year

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:26:11 PM)
we've bagged at least one.

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 2:26:11 PM)
Whitner and Hiley not only play in the same backfield (Glenville) but their junior DB Teammate (Ginn) will be a Top Ten kid next year!

Mike68 (ID=19) (Jul 24, 2002 2:26:16 PM)
We could still get 6 or so guys in the consensus top 100. I'll take that amount of Blue Chippers any year

Gen3Fan (ID=18) (Jul 24, 2002 2:26:40 PM)
Read some speculation that Hiley may have grade problems. Any truth to this?

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 2:27:50 PM)
Whitner is nearly a 4.0 student. Hiley is approximately half of that...

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:28:07 PM)
Ask him if having Troy at OSU already has any impact on his decision.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:28:15 PM)
Hiley does have some work in the classroom to do still

Mike68 (ID=19) (Jul 24, 2002 2:28:28 PM)
How many times a game do you see OSU passing this year?

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:28:40 PM)
I have been following the recruiting real closely for the past two years and I can not recall as many blue chippers that list OSU as top 3 or 5 choices, I think that says alot about the future of our program if all these kids want to be part of it, GO TRESSEL!

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:29:23 PM)

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:29:35 PM)
After the 1998 year, it seemed like a whole bunch of blue-chippers were looking at OSU.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:30:10 PM)
Hi DenBuck

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:30:27 PM)
Greetings From Denver

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:30:34 PM)
Is everyone ready to dance on the Dub-ya after what Brooks Bollinger wrote?

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:30:44 PM)
we even had an off year last year at 7-5 and these kids see the promise of this program

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:30:44 PM)
I hope OSU goes at least 45-55 when it comes to pass/run . They have to take advantage of the WRs

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:31:11 PM)
Agree with Kirk. Gotta open it up a bit

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:31:26 PM)
what did he write dave?

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:31:31 PM)
Dance on the Dubya, take a leak on the "M", it is all good

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:31:32 PM)
I believe there will be some hard hitting in that game

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:31:38 PM)
I don't worry about Krenzel throwing the killer pick that #8 had a knack for though.

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:32:18 PM)
I think we need to focus on short, higher % passes and use the backs a lot

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:32:22 PM)
alot of sacks and hits on that QB

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:32:44 PM)
nrfolknway -- something along the lines of "OSU, they built it, we own it"

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:33:00 PM)
oh yeah. we hate him

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:33:04 PM)

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:33:06 PM)
norfolknway, he wrote on a picture that wisconson owns the shoe

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:33:36 PM)
I'm a bit concerned about the secondary. Glad Cie is back at linebacker. Scared me to death in the d-backfield.

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:34:04 PM)
especillay after he was exposed mid season on the sideline routes

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:34:28 PM)
Let's rank the Big Ten QB's... 1) Smoker, 2) Mills, 3) Abdul-Khaliq, 4) Orton, 5) Krenzel, 6) Banks, 7) Sorgi

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:34:31 PM)
He got burned play after play but I know we had nobody else

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:34:39 PM)
I liked the fact that he was willing to play out of position to help the team but he didn't really help. He was really playing out of position and everyone could tell

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:34:58 PM)
11) Navarre :D

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:34:59 PM)
great althlete, true team player.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:35:13 PM)
ain't that the truth?

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:35:29 PM)
navarre could be our 12 man this year.

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:35:30 PM)
What's everybody think of who will start at t-back?

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:35:51 PM)
I read on their web page somewhere that he was going to have a breakout year this year! now I am really scared

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:35:54 PM)
clarett is my guess

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:35:55 PM)
I'd be happy to see split backs most of the season

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:36:04 PM)
but all three will play a lot

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:36:06 PM)
I think we'll definitely have at least two guys get plenty of time at TB. Mo Hall is my pick to get the most yardage

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:36:10 PM)
Seems Lydell Ross disappeared at theend of the year

DiR (ID=13) (Jul 24, 2002 2:36:18 PM)
and alternate packages like Clarret/Joe, Clarret/Ross. Ross/Hall, etc

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:36:38 PM)
there wasn't much blocking for Lydell against Mich and SC

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:36:48 PM)
george, UM is going to learn real fast about their offense when they play Washington

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:36:50 PM)
I think it will be hard to keep Hall of the field with that speed. he is a mismatch no matter who you have covering him.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:37:01 PM)
They might learn lots of things they don't want to know

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:37:02 PM)
I love the screen pass to the backs. It certainly works against our D a lot

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:37:34 PM)
UM has an offense? where did you see that?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:37:45 PM)
I do too... let's get the short pass in effect. Get the ball in the hands of those skill players and let them make things happen

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:38:07 PM)
It is an outrage that there are no night games this year. Why play late summer games in 95 degree heat?

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:38:14 PM)
This takes pressure off the line to protect too

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:39:16 PM)
george, they are supposedly going to try to have one

rock-n-roll (ID=20) (Jul 24, 2002 2:39:36 PM)
when do we find out about the injured players from spring pratice and if they are 100%

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:39:37 PM)
I love night games. The NW game was great. Electric! We definitely need more.

Gen3Fan (ID=18) (Jul 24, 2002 2:39:39 PM)
What team early on will test the O-Line and give us a real idea of how good they are going to be?

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:39:39 PM)
How about a top 5 "gotta have recruits?

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:39:50 PM)
screens have to be set up, I love to see them run after a sack or somewhere olong those lines. the defense gets it in their head that the oline cannot block and they pin the ears back and come after, good time to sprong a screen.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:40:07 PM)
rock-n-roll, it sounds like all the spring injuries are gone and guys like Olivea, Scott, Wilhelm, etc will be at full go

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:41:05 PM)
Den: Burgess (says he wants to stay at SS), Whitner, and the three best offensive/defensive linemen you can find.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:41:28 PM)
Right now, I have three gotta-haves - Burgess, Quinn and Whitner. The other two are debatable. Patterson's certainly up there with Hiley, Maupin, maybe even Ernie Wheelwright, and the best two OLs they can get!

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 2:41:31 PM)
i am hopeful for a healthy return of olivea, i thought at the end of last year he was our second best lineman, next to bently.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:41:32 PM)
Hate to just give a top 5 though. Quinn is right there

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:41:32 PM)
hi nbuck

nbuck (ID=23) (Jul 24, 2002 2:41:46 PM)
hi kirk

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:41:56 PM)
sounds like Quinn is gone from whatI read. Sure hope not

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:42:07 PM)
Unfortunately, I am buying into the Quinn to ND speculation.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:42:14 PM)
Better ND than UM though.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:42:17 PM)
top 5 gotta gets, 1)burguess,2)Hiley,3)whitner,4)QB,5)big time OL

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:42:21 PM)
Jump on the Brian White bandwagon with me

rock-n-roll (ID=20) (Jul 24, 2002 2:42:27 PM)
1.Burgess 2.Whitner 3. Patterson 4. Maupin 5. Jefferson

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:42:52 PM)
there are some out of state OL/DL that will be in the mix for sure

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:43:01 PM)
Have not heard much of white other than he from Cali. Details? Have we offered

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:43:01 PM)
spbuck, it's looking like Olivea is 100%... has he said anything to you lately Dave?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:43:45 PM)
We have not offered, but that just proved how much he wants to come here. Said the Bucks were his No. 1 over Colorado who offered.

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:43:54 PM)
Any other QB's we are in on besides White-Boeckman-Quinn?

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:44:07 PM)
I would like to see maybe 3 but at least 2 blue-chipper OL this year

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 2:44:09 PM)
top 5 - burgess, whitner, patterson, hiley, and cotton

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:44:42 PM)
Out-of-state, I am looking at Kenyon Buford as maybe the best shot right now. Andrew Bain is showing a bit of interest. Joel Holler... ???

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:44:59 PM)
Duane will have an Andrew Bain update in the next couple of days.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:45:16 PM)
buford sounds like a real possibilty, and MAN is he big

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:45:49 PM)
Any word on Michael Bush lately? Lemming listed OSU as one of his favorites on this Top ten report the other day

rock-n-roll (ID=20) (Jul 24, 2002 2:45:57 PM)
Did we ever find out who the road grader was from senior camp

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:46:04 PM)
Whitner size & location wise reminds me a bit of Desmond Howard

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 2:46:26 PM)
after, watching the big 33 game, i think sims can add some immediate depth to the ol. do you agree? mangold and downing looked like solid prospects but will need some time in the weight room.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:47:01 PM)
Haven't heard anything on M. Bush lately other than that Lemming report. The Bucks still seem to have a shot, but they want him as a RB! He wants to play CB

Gen3Fan (ID=18) (Jul 24, 2002 2:47:22 PM)
How about Hearn from Glenville. Any chance with his height you could put some weight on him and turn him into an O-Lineman?

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:47:22 PM)
I sure like the class of athlete Tress is going after. Good citizens with great grades. This will have a great long term effect on the program

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:47:23 PM)
I haven't seen the Big 33 game yet, but I like everything I hear about Sims

nbuck (ID=23) (Jul 24, 2002 2:47:36 PM)
(This user has left DigiChat) (IP =

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:47:53 PM)
Sims is a candidate to get into the two-deep early. Mangold will need to bulk up

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:48:00 PM)
What's the scoop on wheelright?

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:48:07 PM)
Any chance of getting Bush in for a Bucknuts radio guest?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:48:21 PM)
I like guys who are the son of former NFL guys (Morris, Sims, Downing, Carpenter)...

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:48:32 PM)
Wheelright might be a good guest for the radio show too.

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 2:49:09 PM)
question... what do you think about roy hall playing this year? he might be too good to redshirt? what are your thoughts?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:49:10 PM)
Those would both be good guests. We definitely want to try and get Bush on a bit later in the year. We have Crable coming on in a couple of weeks, then after that, we'll focus on the team for a while I think

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:49:24 PM)
I think Hall will redshirt... too much in front of him.

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:49:41 PM)
I think we have too many good WR's from him to play. Hate to waste a year...

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:49:44 PM)
Hall is a good one though, for sure. But the depth at WR is very good.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:49:48 PM)
I hope Hall redshirts, but I don't think he will

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:49:52 PM)
Any chance for Chattams to redshirt this year? Might be good move for him

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 2:49:59 PM)
have you seen enough tape on datish to feel he can help add depth to the ol this year. as you can tell, my biggest concern for our team is the ol. i think we can be solid with our first 5, but we sure need a couple freshman to step in and add depth.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:50:05 PM)
Chattams should redshirt

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:50:16 PM)
HangOnSloopy, I have thought of that too. I agree.

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 2:50:35 PM)
and how about santonio? he's almost for sure a redshirt?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:51:07 PM)
I think Datish will be solid even as a frosh. He won't be ready right away, but he could be a starter due to injury, etc... down the line.

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:51:16 PM)
I sort of hope Zwick redshirts too

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:51:26 PM)
Santonio is probably a redshirt too, I'm guessing. Too much depth. The good thing is he has said he has no problem waiting his turn.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:52:15 PM)
I am a fan of redshirting freshmen if possible. I don't think Zwick will redshirt though.

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 2:52:17 PM)
i think chattams should certainly think about moving to db if he has potential there, because our depth is outstanding at wr especially if hall and holmes prove to be as good as advertised.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:52:23 PM)
Pitcock is an interesting one. Heard the gull bladder surgery is easy to get over. We'll need his bulk imo.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:52:35 PM)
with so few seniors on this years team, there will probably be a lot of redshirting going on to save that talent for another year

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:52:38 PM)
Chattams certainly seems very much against moving to CB for some reason.

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 2:53:00 PM)
I thought for sure roy hall would play this yr. i know we have so many talented WR's. but how about if one or two of them get injured? roy is one of the best wr's in his class in the nation and he came out of a terrible football high school

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:53:12 PM)
kirk: can't blame him. he had over 100 receptions in high school. just don't see him cracking the lineup at osu.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:53:20 PM)
I know it is early to be looking to 2003... but you have to love the fact that only two players are gone from the entire offensive two-deep and some good players will be back on D as well

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:53:42 PM)
Definitely. They should be a preseason favorite to win it all

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:54:23 PM)
This year remind me of 1997, but hopefully we are better than 9-4

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:54:50 PM)
we will will at least 10 games this year

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:54:57 PM)
my prediction

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:55:03 PM)
i agree george

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 2:55:21 PM)
any new word on marcel frost? it seems like he won't be a buckeye

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:55:23 PM)
I hope we don't take Tesax Tech too lightly

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:55:24 PM)
Dave, I am not ready to say that just yet... Oklahoma's mostly underclassmen I think

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:55:25 PM)
if we get through the OCC games unbeaten, look out

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:55:40 PM)
I said "a" favorite. One of five or six.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:55:46 PM)
buckfan, Duane said the other day OSU had offered Frost, which is interesting

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 2:55:53 PM)
Good call on the '97 comparison. I foresee 11-3 this year. We can beat everyone on the schedule, but they'll stumble a couple times.

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 2:56:03 PM)
really? i had no idea

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 2:56:16 PM)
im surprised since we got irizarry

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:56:19 PM)
I didn't think OSU had offered yet either, but I'm not sure

cain19 (ID=25) (Jul 24, 2002 2:56:26 PM)
what top out of state OL do you think OSU will be after?

brett5958 (ID=4) (Jul 24, 2002 2:57:00 PM)
the 97 team lost to 3 teams that spent time at #1 that year they won't play 3 teams that good this year

rock-n-roll (ID=20) (Jul 24, 2002 2:57:06 PM)
Kirk reviewed your roster looks great, what happened to Mike Kudla

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:57:16 PM)
I think OSU is trying hard to get the same blue-chip OLs as everyone... the problem is interest in the players' parts in OSU. Maybe we can get Kenyon Buford, Andrew Bain, Joel Holler, or maybe even this Tripp Carroll up for a visit

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 2:57:30 PM)
i may be in the minority, but i am comfortable with krenzel because he has good composure and makes good decisions. i think we will be good with him this year and next year with the team around him, both offensively and defensively, he is the thpe of qb you can go all the way with him. one word for krenzel - solid.

norfolknway (ID=2) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:06 PM)
it's been great absorbing all this. have to run. GO BUCKS!

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:08 PM)
rock-n-roll, is there something wrong with Kudla's page? I did have to delete and re-add it earlier, but it seems ok now

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:11 PM)
what players on this team (besides doss) have a legitimate shot at the nfl?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:20 PM)
bye norfolk!

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:20 PM)
I don't think you are in the minority sp

brett5958 (ID=4) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:31 PM)
I agree spbuck Krenzel doesn't make me nervous for some reason

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:34 PM)
I don't buy it on Krenzel, he may be good enough to keep Zwick off the field as a freshman but not as a sophmore

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:37 PM)
We truly need to get better QB recruits. Hopefully with Tress, Zwick is just the beginning

cain19 (ID=25) (Jul 24, 2002 2:58:53 PM)
why do you think there is a lack in interest in OSU by OL?

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 2:59:16 PM)
what receivers have a good shot at turning pro on this squad?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 2:59:23 PM)
Cain: Because we just signed five studs. Teams (Pitt) are using that against us.

rock-n-roll (ID=20) (Jul 24, 2002 2:59:31 PM)
Kirk when i Look at it this am his name was not listed.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 2:59:43 PM)
buckfan, good question! On offense, I still like the two deep at WR to at least get drafted. None may be #1 picks, but they'll get a shot. A couple of the OLs probably will as well. On D, Will Smith and Mike Doss seem to be best-suited for the NFL. Dustin Fox has pro tools as well.

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 2:59:59 PM)
after watching zwick in the big 33, he is an outstanding prospect but needs a lot of work to contribute. i see his best scenario as a redshirt year.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:00:09 PM)
Lots of the guys on D will get a shot.

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:00:15 PM)
nice, thanks\

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:00:21 PM)
buckfan: I think Jenkins, Vance, Gamble and Carter all do.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:00:22 PM)
I wouldn't say lack of interest, just lack of instate talent, it is hard to go outside of your own state for early commits. we will be mentioned alot after the season and befor signing day

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:00:28 PM)

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:01:07 PM)
buckfan: put it this way: If Rambo and Germany can make a roster, any of those four can.

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:01:16 PM)
good point

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:01:21 PM)
Gamble is lots of people's choice as the best WR, but I really like Drew Carter's physical tools as well. The pros look for certain things, and I just think he has the physical attributes they are looking for.

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 3:01:28 PM)
Rambo, boy am I glad he's gone...

brett5958 (ID=4) (Jul 24, 2002 3:01:31 PM)
people would probably be a lot less nervous if we had instaters munoz and hall

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 3:01:37 PM)
hopefully the instate quality in ol will improve next year because it says a lot that osu did not offer any ol at camp.

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:01:51 PM)
i cant believe the talent we have at WR. i hope tressel gets them all ionvolved

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:02:07 PM)
brett5958, losing Munoz, Hall and Christopfel from that year did hurt. Christopfel is going to be a solid contributor at UM.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:02:22 PM)
spbuck, it doesn't look good in that regard. :(

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 3:02:40 PM)
What's the latest on how many scholies we have total to offer?

brett5958 (ID=4) (Jul 24, 2002 3:02:45 PM)
was hall ever part of that recruitig scandal at UK

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:03:08 PM)
If Ty Hall is the best in the state, it doesn't surprise me that we aren't going after Ohio guys

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 3:03:25 PM)
munoz and chistphel were both from cincitucky, they were practically out of state linemen.

ateam106 (ID=27) (Jul 24, 2002 3:03:28 PM)
(This user has entered Bucknuts Club Chat Room) (IP =

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:03:30 PM)
There was shaky stuff going on with Hall, but to my knowledge, he wasn't part of that big scandal

brett5958 (ID=4) (Jul 24, 2002 3:03:46 PM)
I always wondered about him saying he went there for the music program(what?)

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:03:47 PM)
I think getting big guys who can play DL or OL is the key. Then see where the fit best once we get them on campus

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 3:03:58 PM)
Yeah, the 'nati has never been a Buckeye hotbed.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:04:00 PM)
I don't think Munoz was headed to OSU regardless, but I recall Christopfel being down to OSU and UM

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:04:17 PM)
how did ej underwood look against pennsylvania? they couldnt stop their one receiver?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:04:37 PM)
they didn't throw EJ's way apparently

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:04:38 PM)
EJ did stop his reciever

brett5958 (ID=4) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:03 PM)
Palko only completed 4 passes didn't he?

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:06 PM)
heard him and hall battled it out too in the north south game

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:07 PM)
i think we need to consider penton and shaeffer as potential ol. they didn't neccessarily impress in the big 33 but both looked big and athletic with frames to be potential ols.

ateam106 (ID=27) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:09 PM)
What about Tyler Everett? Did he do well?

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:28 PM)
the reciever that beat us was lining up in the slot and with the rules stating that you have to play man coverage, a saftey was trying to cover him

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:33 PM)
sp: I've heard Penton could be moved to DT

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:33 PM)
We'll have to check out the Big 33 tomorrow although I'm sick of hearing about Steve Breaston already

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:41 PM)
Any info on anyone transferring out?

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:48 PM)

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:05:56 PM)
There were some whispers about Penton moving to OL earlier, but I think those have stopped

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:07 PM)
Surprisingly, no... unless you consider Fred Stirrup a transfer

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:21 PM)
Stirrup going to be in camp on Monday?

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:27 PM)

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:30 PM)
or Thursday rather.

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:34 PM)

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:45 PM)
So how many total scholarships do we have to offer this year?

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:46 PM)
will you guys be keeping us up to date on the website once the freshmen come in and hoe they are doing?

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:54 PM)

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:06:56 PM)
Sloopy: no offical word, but it looks like he didn't make it

ateam106 (ID=27) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:04 PM)
Dave, who are you most excited to see out of the incoming freshman

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:10 PM)

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:16 PM)
I'm guessing we'll take around 15-16 players

rock-n-roll (ID=20) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:25 PM)
let steve breaston catch one over the middle and meet mr doss

MrBucknuts (ID=5) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:27 PM)
I gotta go listen to the Reds' game. Catch you guys on the radio!

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:39 PM)
later MR.B

BK68 (ID=26) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:42 PM)
any word on morris?

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:46 PM)

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:47 PM)
ateam: Going waaaay out on a limb and saying he'll have a Katz '96 year.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:07:58 PM)
That would be too bad on Sturrup. He supposedly worked hard to get back to eligibility.

buckfan (ID=24) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:03 PM)
alright guys, thanks for the info

ateam106 (ID=27) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:06 PM)
Sounds good to me!

HangOnSloopy (ID=17) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:18 PM)
I'm off to lunch. Thanks for the chat.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:19 PM)
I have to go too in about five min or so for the radio show... any more questions?

DenBuck (ID=21) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:30 PM)
I'm outta here. Thanks Kirk

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:37 PM)
Later guys!!!

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:44 PM)
Bye buckfan, sloopy, denbuck!

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:51 PM)
pennsylvania threw at ej only once that i saw and he had good coverage on that play. he looked good in that game. everett looked okay but i don't expect anything from him immediately. he passes the look test. once again these impressions are from just one game, and an all-star gameat that.

rock-n-roll (ID=20) (Jul 24, 2002 3:08:58 PM)
great chat thanks

Dave B. (ID=6) (Jul 24, 2002 3:09:27 PM)
Thanks Kirk... Talk to all of you later! Go Bucks!!!

Gen3Fan (ID=18) (Jul 24, 2002 3:09:35 PM)
Any chance Hearns from Glenville could be turned into a O-Lineman with his height? Does he have the frame to add weight and maintain a4.7?

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:09:48 PM)
what if Krenzel plays just good enough to not lose a few games this year, can he hold off Zwick next year?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:09:53 PM)
Hearns doesn't seem to be getting much interest right now... but that's an interesting theory

Gen3Fan (ID=18) (Jul 24, 2002 3:10:44 PM)
Why no interest?

Gen3Fan (ID=18) (Jul 24, 2002 3:10:59 PM)
Grades, ability?

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:11:25 PM)
george, that will be something I will be keeping an eye on. I guess it's too early to tell for sure, but if Krenzel doesn't come out and take control, we could certainly have a competition on our hands next year

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:12:15 PM)
Gen3Fan, Hearns is very, very raw. The big schools just might not see what they want in him. Duane likes him still, but he doesn't seem to have the interest

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:12:47 PM)
I can't see wasting two years of Zwicks eligibilty behind someone who couldn't take a spot from a saftey playing QB. Zwick sees the field this year, alot

Gen3Fan (ID=18) (Jul 24, 2002 3:13:01 PM)
Thanks, looking forward to the radio hour. See you all later.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:13:08 PM)

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:13:09 PM)
Bye gen3

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:13:29 PM)
The chat was going strong there for a while!!!

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:13:39 PM)
We'll have to do something similar to this soon

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 3:13:51 PM)
prediction of freshmen who will impact this year - sims, ej, clarrett, d'andrea, and datish.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:13:52 PM)
yes it was, I got here late but it was still going strong

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:14:15 PM)
george, I'm concerned about that too. The best case scenario in my opinion is that he redshirts. I hope he does. If not, we could see that happen

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:14:56 PM)
I think he is already in the two deep. McMullen just doesn't have the drive to make it at OSU

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:15:29 PM)
spbuck, my guesses - Sims makes the two-deep but doesn't play too much. EJ's PT is similar to Nate Clements as a freshman. Clarett rushes for about 500 yards. D'Andrea is the #4 LB and won't start but will certainly play. Datish may redshirt

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 3:15:45 PM)
i'm anxious to see where troy smith fits in, he sounds like a very athletic prospect.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:15:51 PM)
Dave Biddle said McMullen has been impressive over the summer, but nothing I have seen makes me confident in him

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 3:16:56 PM)
while i have confidence in krenzels ability to lead this team, i can not say as much for mcmullen until he show us otherwise.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:17:29 PM)
That may be McMullen's downfall. Remember he was the starter for that Illinois game, but supposedly, Craig showed he wanted it more.

george (ID=15) (Jul 24, 2002 3:18:02 PM)
well kirk, I guess I will look forward to hearing you on the radio this afternoon. ask Donte about playing with Hiley in college, if that is something that they are interested in. please :)

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:18:26 PM)
Well guys, I have to log off now... still haven't gone over the plan for the show yet. George, I will try to make sure we get that question in.

spbuck (ID=22) (Jul 24, 2002 3:18:32 PM)
i'm taking off, thanks for the chat and you guys do an excellent job with the web site.

Kirk L. (ID=3) (Jul 24, 2002 3:18:36 PM)
Thanks for coming everyone and chat with you soon!
