hammbone1928 (Nov 15, 2006 9:39:10 AM)
Whose LB's are the best Tex Mich?

GoBux (Nov 15, 2006 9:44:02 AM)
How does this Michigan team stack up against some of the great teams of the past?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:44:50 AM)
I think this year's defensive front is the best they've had

Kirk (Nov 15, 2006 9:45:10 AM)
Hi everyone... Steve Helwagen will be our moderator today but he is running a few minutes behind.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:45:13 AM)
there have been individual talents up front...but no unit with the overall depth this one has

Kirk (Nov 15, 2006 9:45:46 AM)
It looks like folks have already started asking Sam questions. Feel free to keep sending them in; moderation is now on.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:45:55 AM)
I think I'd call this linebacking unit a push with 97 (Ian Gold, Dhani Jones, and Sam Sword were all in the pros)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:46:44 AM)
but I'd take the 97 secondary

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:46:53 AM)
that unit had the kind of depth in the defensive backfield that this one has on the defensive front

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:46:55 AM)
lots of pros on the 97 offense...but I take this one

hondo (Nov 15, 2006 9:47:11 AM)
Sam, what is the health of the team, in particulat Manningham and Burgess>

JimC (Nov 15, 2006 9:47:13 AM)
How is the health? How is Hart?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:48:04 AM)
they have bumps and bruises like all teams do at this time of year

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:48:05 AM)
but everyone is expected to play.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:48:07 AM)
Manningham is colse to 100%

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:48:08 AM)
we'll see on Burgess

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:48:10 AM)
the week off probably helped him

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:48:19 AM)
Hart is fine

JimC (Nov 15, 2006 9:48:39 AM)
What is you opinion on Henne's development? He was gangbusters as a freshman.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:49:26 AM)
I think he has matured as a leader...and certainly reads defenses better

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:49:28 AM)
he does still throw late sometimes though

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:49:35 AM)
that's where the majority of his interceptions come from

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:50:16 AM)
early in his career, it might have been a misread, or a hurry

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:50:18 AM)
that hasn't been an issue

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:50:20 AM)
the real area he has progressed in is managing the game

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:50:28 AM)
this year his numbers are down

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:50:48 AM)
but this offesive staff has clearly asked different things of him

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:50:53 AM)
that was especially true when Manningham went out

OTTOBUCK (Nov 15, 2006 9:51:07 AM)
Can you verrify? I was told the man who impeersonates Woody(Mr. Thomas) was asked to film a commercial for the game. He refused to say michigan and instead said TSUN. They dropped the commercial.Way to go Woody!!!!

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:51:15 AM)
against the lesser teams...the run pass ratio was as even

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:51:47 AM)
and they didn't attack downfield as much

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:51:50 AM)
they'd tell you it was because they did have to (which is what they said before ND)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:51:55 AM)
we'll see if the same holds true versus OSU

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:52:48 AM)
Haven't heard that one OTTOBUCK, but I think it would fit perfectly with the spirit of the rivalry

JimC (Nov 15, 2006 9:53:03 AM)
How do you see Michigan attacking OSU when Michigan has the ball?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:54:02 AM)
I think that is totally predicated on the defensive strategy of Ohio State

hammbone1928 (Nov 15, 2006 9:54:12 AM)
How would you rate the overall Secondary?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:54:22 AM)
if they come out and try to play Michigan's O straight up (which I don't think they will do)...I think Michigan's response would be to run the ball, and run it often

hondo (Nov 15, 2006 9:54:55 AM)
Do you foresee any UM Juniors leaving early for the draft?

ohs (Nov 15, 2006 9:55:13 AM)
what scares Mich most about the bucks?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:55:17 AM)
If OSU decides to walk a safety down into the box to stop the run and force Chad Henn to beat them (which is exactly what I think they will do), I think Michigan will try to take advantage of the opportunities they have through the air

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 9:55:25 AM)
Thanks to Kirk for getting it started. I had an appt this morning that ran long. Thanks as well to Sam for joining us. What a great week this is, even if it is raining now.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:55:38 AM)
in other words...they'll get vertical

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:55:42 AM)
don't get me wrong...

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:55:44 AM)
they will still run the ball

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 9:56:01 AM)
A couple questions slipped through somehow. Hondo asked if any UM juniors will leave early.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:56:18 AM)
but they are not going to beat their heads against the wall like they might have done against lesser opponents

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 9:57:01 AM)
Any UM juniors leaving early, perhaps? That was the question from Hondo.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:57:07 AM)
Hondo...I think Branch is the biggest possiblity

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:57:24 AM)
but the talk now is that he'll return as well

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:57:32 AM)
we'll have to see on him though

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 9:57:34 AM)
ohs also asked earlier what scares Michigan the most about Ohio State

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:57:45 AM)
the chances of him staying in my opinion are 60/40 at best

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:58:01 AM)
Jake Long, Chad Henne, and Mike Hart all plan to return

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:58:50 AM)
what scares Michigan most? As if that needs an answer! lol

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:58:53 AM)
Troy Smith, Troy Smith, AND Troy Smith

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 9:58:57 AM)
Ha ha.

Kyle S Lamb (Nov 15, 2006 9:59:10 AM)
Sam - looking forward to our little point-counter point column we're going to start this week! Should be fun. What do you make of Lloyd Carr's treatment of the rivalry this season? He admitted to preparing for Ohio State several weeks in advance, which is not unusual for a lot of teams, but has that been something he's always done or did he just put more emphasis on it this season?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:59:17 AM)
the guy has been nothing short of spectacular in the past two meetings

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:59:47 AM)
In 04, the thought was if you make the guy beat you with his arm...he can't do it

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 9:59:58 AM)
they go out and try to rush him with three guys...

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:00:25 AM)
he responds by throwing a bomb over the top to Anthony Gonzales...on his way to over 200 yards passing

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:00:42 AM)
by the time they started to try to bring the heat...the guy was in a groove

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:01:18 AM)
Last year they have the game won for the most part

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:01:23 AM)
but go into a passive defense

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:01:32 AM)
I won't say prevent...just passive

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:01:47 AM)
the kid absolutely picked them apart

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:02:09 AM)
Kyle asked about how Carr is approaching this rivalry.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:02:15 AM)
they lost a game they had no business losing (which was par for the course last year)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:02:46 AM)
this year...if Troy Smith beats Michigan, it won't be because they were passive in my opinion

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:02:53 AM)
they are going to come after him.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:03:17 AM)
if he still beats them, then they'll just have to tip their cap to the better man

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:03:29 AM)
If they go down, I think they are going to go down guns ablazing

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:03:48 AM)
Along the lines of what Kyle asked ...

hondo (Nov 15, 2006 10:03:50 AM)
Has the 1-4 record weighed on the minds UM especially Carr going into this game, in your opinion?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:04:00 AM)
I think he loves it

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:04:19 AM)
despite the recent record...I think the guy lives for games like this one

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:04:46 AM)
It was evident during the Notre Dame week as well

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:04:49 AM)
they hadn't beaten that team in South Bend in forever

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:05:12 AM)
Michigan also lost one to ND last year that they had no business losing

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:05:26 AM)
but the guy was just fired up about the game this year

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:05:43 AM)
not nervous or timid like the national media seemed to think he was

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:05:47 AM)
fired up

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:05:54 AM)
stuff you would never see on camera

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:06:03 AM)
I get the same vibe this week

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:06:11 AM)
He sounds like he is fired up if the ABC story is true.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:06:17 AM)
we'll have to see if it means the same result

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:06:53 AM)
hondo...not like the media is trying to portray

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:07:02 AM)
I don't think it intimidates them

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:07:09 AM)
I think it ticks them off

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:07:12 AM)
Itruly do

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:07:23 AM)
OK, here's one from GoBux ...

GoBux (Nov 15, 2006 10:07:27 AM)
Sam, Do you see any match ups that UM will try to exploit?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:08:39 AM)
I think Michigan believes they'll be able to dictate on offense with the running game

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:08:57 AM)
I think they beleive they can run the ball on the Buckeyes

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:09:09 AM)
and that the only whey they can be stopped from running the ball is if OSU loads the box

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:09:27 AM)
then we'll see if the passing game responds like it did versus ND

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:10:07 AM)
Defensively, I think they believe they have an adavantage along the defensive line

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:10:40 AM)
in other words, the match-ups I think they will try to exploit are both lines

GoBux (Nov 15, 2006 10:11:42 AM)
That sounds pretty bleak for us, do we have a chance?:)

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:11:45 AM)
Ha ha.

BucklivGa (Nov 15, 2006 10:11:53 AM)
this sounds eeeerrrrillly like Texas

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:11:55 AM)
Yeah...Troy Smith

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:12:27 AM)
They went to the Rose Bowl...and executed everything to a T

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:12:30 AM)
except stopping Vince Young

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:12:54 AM)
Not sure if this was asked, but will Manningham be a factor? He hasn't done much in the last 2 games since he returned, but was dynamite early in the year.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:13:00 AM)
If Ohio State wins this game it will be because Troy Smith was outstanding

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:13:15 AM)
and it's not s stretch for OSU fans to believ he will be

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:13:55 AM)
Manningham held back the last few weeks specifically for OSU

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:14:05 AM)
10-12 plays two weeks ago

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:14:20 AM)
Yes, that made sense anyway.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:14:24 AM)
a few more last week with a couple of passes thrown his way to get him reacclimated to game contact

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:14:43 AM)
at this point they say he is close to running at full speed

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:15:05 AM)
which is allyou can ask for after sustaining a midseason injury

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:15:08 AM)
I absolutely think he will be a fact

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:15:16 AM)
at least...they are going to try to make him one

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:17:22 AM)
I presume that Michigan's rank of 65th nationally in pass defense is at least due to the fact UM jumps on teams and they have to abandon the run. Everybody likes Leon Hall, but are there some soft spots there otherwise?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:18:14 AM)
Yeah Steve...teams are running for 35 yards per game

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:18:23 AM)
I wouldn't say it's because Michigan gets up big

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:18:36 AM)
because in most games they aren't scoring a ton of points

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:18:56 AM)
It's because teams have had virtually no success moving the ball on the ground

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:19:11 AM)
their only recourse has been to throw it

GoBux (Nov 15, 2006 10:19:55 AM)
Sam, I have another theory, overall the secondary is soft and OSU will light it up.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:20:05 AM)
the teams that have had success thorugh the air have had quarterbacks get outside the pocket to buy more time

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:20:38 AM)
which is a trait OSU clearly has

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:20:47 AM)
lol...we will see GoBux

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:20:57 AM)
Leon Hall is the best corner in the country

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:21:08 AM)
and Morgan Trent is the fastest guy on the team

boozer (Nov 15, 2006 10:21:15 AM)
leon hall is overrated

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:21:19 AM)
Ha ha

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:21:38 AM)
What about Henne ...

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:22:03 AM)
Most of the big plays have come against corners other than those guys

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:22:05 AM)
against Minnesota, Trneth didn't play (brken hand)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:22:25 AM)
against Ball State...both big plays were over backups as well

OTTOBUCK (Nov 15, 2006 10:22:28 AM)
It's not just Ginn but Gonzo, Robo , Hall , Harline , Nicol ....

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:22:58 AM)
If OSu spreads Michigan out and forces them to bring more corners into the game, then it's a clear sign that they're testing Michigan's depth

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:23:10 AM)
Why is it clicking for Henne more this year than before? He always seemed to be good for an incompletion or pick when needed in years past. He's been pretty solid this year.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:23:42 AM)
I'd love to have that kind of overrated corner EVERY year boozer

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:23:44 AM)
that kid will go in the first round

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:24:16 AM)
I think he is better at recognizing defenses and getting Michigan into the right play

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:24:33 AM)
biggest flaw in my opinion is he still holds on to the ball to long at times

boozer (Nov 15, 2006 10:24:42 AM)
i agree that he is a solid corner but he isnt the best in the country

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:24:58 AM)
Agree to disagree, I guess (LOLOL)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:25:01 AM)
but for the most part...the guy has been steady as a rock

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:25:09 AM)
name one better boozer

boozer (Nov 15, 2006 10:25:34 AM)
malcon jenkins

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:25:49 AM)
okay

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:26:00 AM)
I think I knew that one was coming

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:26:09 AM)
New topic becayse that could rage all day (eye of the beholder, etc.).

manhattanbuck (Nov 15, 2006 10:26:12 AM)
Hey Sam, Im not a big fan of rematches, but after last weekend it is clear that the School up North and Ohio State have SEPARATED themselves. As a result I feel a close game should reward the loser with a spot in the nc game. This is what we play for and BOTH teams deserve to play. USC finished #2 ahead of us after LOSING to Texas last year after Penn State and OHIO STATE won their bowl games. Until we clean up this BCS mess and have a one plus in the four bowl games it is only fair to these two superior teams.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:26:23 AM)
like Steve said..we'll agree to disagree

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:27:01 AM)
from a purely selfish perspective, I agree manhattan

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:27:14 AM)
but I think it has very little chance of working out that way

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:27:27 AM)
Prolly too many results need to fall that way.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:27:32 AM)
USC will have a strong case if they finish out the season with just one loss

oz (Nov 15, 2006 10:28:01 AM)
After carr's blow up during the ABC interview, it seems like he is uptight for the game....Any chance that attitude carries over to the team?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:29:04 AM)
sure they lost to Oregon State...but they would have victories over Arkansas, CAL, and Notre Dame

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:29:07 AM)
they won't be left out

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:29:24 AM)
a one-loss SEC champ would have a might case as well

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:29:57 AM)
I think the guy is fired up

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:30:00 AM)
that's the best way I can put it

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:30:17 AM)
it's the same way he was ND week

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:30:37 AM)
the players just seem to be confident

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:30:40 AM)
not cocky

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:30:54 AM)
just confident that they can get it done

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:31:47 AM)
Let me put it this way

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:31:50 AM)
I think these guys are embracing the magnitude of this game

manhattanbuck (Nov 15, 2006 10:32:01 AM)
Sam, Do people from the School up North want a rematch? Are they beginning to treat this rivalry with the intensity Ohio State does? Do they understand how much bigger of a game this is ( and more important in the National view) than ND or MSU? Seems theirs and the team up north

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:32:10 AM)
they enjoy that they will be playing down in Columbus...

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:32:23 AM)
they're enjoying the competitve aspect of things

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:32:51 AM)
it's as iff they're saying...hey these are our cards...if you have better ones, show them

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:33:24 AM)
Ithey'll come down and play their game...and if they lose, they'll tip their caps to OSU because the Bucks were better that day

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:33:31 AM)
but they won't come down scared or tight

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:33:34 AM)
that much I'm sure of

boozer (Nov 15, 2006 10:33:37 AM)
sam what is your prediction for the game this weekend

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:34:10 AM)
Amended my previous prediction...

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:34:30 AM)
I think Michigan goes down to the belly of the beast and wins 27-21

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:34:38 AM)
the game will never be out of reach for either team

OTTOBUCK (Nov 15, 2006 10:35:11 AM)
Rock meet hard place! Somthing's gonna give! Will special teams be the difference?

boozer (Nov 15, 2006 10:35:22 AM)
i agree that its goingto be a close game but osu comes out on top

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:35:27 AM)
manhattan...I think mny of the folks in Ann Arbor would love to see a rematch

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:35:40 AM)
but the rest of the nation is not going to let that happen

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:36:05 AM)
if special teams are the difference in the game, then it favors OSU IMO

GoBux (Nov 15, 2006 10:36:45 AM)
Sam, Much is said about your D's front 7, how much quality depth do you have ?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:37:12 AM)
that's what makes the unit special

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:38:06 AM)
Woodley Branch, Taylor, and Biggs start

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:38:38 AM)
then they come off the bench with Tim Jamison (army aa), Brandon graham (army aa), Will Johnson (top 100)...and at times Eugene Germany (who was top 100 as well)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:38:43 AM)
the depth up front is what allows the starters to play so well

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:38:53 AM)
Wow, sounds like they are set up for a couple years there.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:39:01 AM)
they get a chance to rest quite a bit without having falloff

manhattanbuck (Nov 15, 2006 10:39:20 AM)
How do you think most fans up north percieve our weaknessess as a team?

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:39:57 AM)
David Harris is outstanding in the middle...but the depth behind him is an issues

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:40:00 AM)
WILL and SAM have good depth with Crable, Burgess, and Chris Graham

GoBux (Nov 15, 2006 10:41:25 AM)
Sam, It seems that the past hour with us hasn't brought you over from the Dark Side.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:41:42 AM)
well steve...could lose Branch and will lose Woodley...butMarques Slocum and James McKinney (both Army AA's step in)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:41:52 AM)
and they've liked what they've seen from Jason Kates so far

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:43:00 AM)
I think most fans believe Michigan will be able to run the ball on Ohio States defense if they play straight up

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:43:56 AM)
and that the Bucks will have to use a safety to stop them consistently

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:45:30 AM)
defensively...they obviously have a healthy respect for Troy Smith

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:45:43 AM)
but believe that this year's D will do a better job on him

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:45:51 AM)
if they don't the they'll lose

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:45:56 AM)
it's that simple

rbuck (Nov 15, 2006 10:45:59 AM)
Sam, I think it was you that I first heard about the charges coming out on Burgess from when he was 14. Since hearing that from you I have still heard nothing. Is this getting a lot of press up North, b/c I don't think it is around here. Also, do you really think Tressel would pull this stuff? If so you must think he lacks class, I would if I believed that.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:46:48 AM)
I was surprised that it was an issue myself

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:47:08 AM)
but Michigan has received assurances that the statute of limitations are up

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:47:17 AM)
I would say.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:47:42 AM)
they went through the process of meeting with their lawyers and everything...so I don't think they're concerned about it

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:47:56 AM)
That's good. Any last blasts for Sam ... here's quite a statement.

GoBux (Nov 15, 2006 10:47:58 AM)
Sam, Here is how it will end. Well's, not Pittman runs for 100. Troy throws for 250, and the winged helmets go home 11-1 and kick the hell out of your Bowl opponant.

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:48:30 AM)
Wells hasn't hit 100 yet, my guess is he doesn't get enough carries to get 11. Pittman ends up with 20-25 totes and Wells closer to 8-10.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:49:10 AM)
If Pittman goes for over 100, that's a problem for Michigan because it means the backs have balance

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:49:27 AM)
and that's something teams haven'tbeen able to achieve all year

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:49:40 AM)
Minnesota had 108 as ateam, everybody else under a hunde

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:49:52 AM)
I think Smith has to throw for 300 to win

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:49:58 AM)
which is certainly possible

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:50:27 AM)
That's been rare, too. He usually is between 200-250. Of course he has not played much in the fourth quarter all year long.

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:50:35 AM)
Hard to get 300 on 25 attempts.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:50:39 AM)
1st half versus Minnesota...the worst half for the starters all season

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:50:56 AM)
probably a tape the OSU staff is watching

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:50:58 AM)
Guys, I want to thank Sam for coming by.

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:51:32 AM)
This has been a lot of fun. He does a great job covering the Wolverines in recruiting, football and bkb. (By the way, is it time for Amaker to poop or get off the pot?)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:51:41 AM)
thanks for having me

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:51:47 AM)
looking forward to a great game

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:52:19 AM)
Thanks again, Sam!

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:52:21 AM)
He's going to poop this year Steve

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:52:26 AM)
Ha ha.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:52:30 AM)
he has been stopped up for quite some time! lol

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:52:42 AM)
I could not believe UM hasn't been to The Dance since 1998.

boozer (Nov 15, 2006 10:52:57 AM)
thanks sam good luck this weekend your going to need it

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:52:59 AM)
Their time is coming, though. He's got some players coming in.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:53:07 AM)
The one year they would've gone (Amaker's second)...they couldn't because of the probation

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:53:15 AM)
Yep, that

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:53:19 AM)
That was right.

SteveHelwagen (Nov 15, 2006 10:53:28 AM)
Sam, thanks again and we'll see you Sat.

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:53:39 AM)

Sam Webb (Nov 15, 2006 10:53:44 AM)
