Cook and Oden Lead Buckeyes to Victory

The key story for the Ohio State Buckeyes was that they witnessed the return of the nation's top rated recruit Greg Oden. Thad Matta's Buckeyes are deeper than just Oden and they proved it again today.

Freshman sensation Daequan Cook who came into the game averaging 17 points per game led the charge as he scored 24 points. Oden made his return much to the delight of the Buckeye faithful and he contributed with 12 points.

Oden did most of his damage from the charity strip as he connected on 8-15 free throws. The talented seven-footer was 2-3 from the field.

The Buckeyes defense did the job holding Valparaiso to 58 points and 4-13 from 3-point land where the Crusaders thrive. The Crusdaers leading scorer Shawn Huff was held to zero points and second leading scorer Urule Igbavoa was held to 10 points. Sam Haanpaa led the Crusaders effort 18 points.

The third-ranked Buckeyes (7-1) return to acton on Saturday, Dec. 9 when they host Cleveland State.
