The offensive line is an area that fans would love to see addressed in a big way in this year's recruiting class. However, if the Buckeyes are to do that, they may have to look out-of-state as no Ohio offensive linemen have been offered as of yet.
Offensive lineman Dan Mazan from Carteret, NJ hasn't been offered either, but if that offer comes, OSU might be in good shape.
"If Ohio State offered they would be #1," Dan said, "but I have no leader right now. My coaches really like Ohio State."
Mazan is not a borderline prospect. At least one service has him as one of the top ten offensive linemen in America, and he has some impressive offers to choose from.
"Oklahoma, Colorado, Syracuse and Penn State have offered me," he said.
Dan is interested in those schools as well as a few others.
"If I had to name the 5 schools that I would visit if I had to make the decision right now, they would be Ohio State, Oklahoma, Colorado, Michigan and Penn State," he said. "Syracuse and Wisconsin are a couple of others I would have to think hard about before I made the final decision."
Any timetable for a decision?
"I am not in a hurry," he said. "I want to play it out and see what happens."
At 6-3, 280, Dan projects as interior lineman.
"I play guard, but Ohio State has said they like me at center," he said.
Dan is familiar with the OSU team, and he is familiar with one player in particular as he saw budding star DE Will Smith play in high school.
"I remember watching Will Smith in the Governors Bowl," Dan said. "I knew he was going to be good."
Fans often ask about out-of-state offensive line recruits. Dan is definitely a name to remember. We're going to have to follow this player to see if he gets that offer.
