Future Buckeye: Taurian Washington

Taurian Washington grew up a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, so there is no wonder that he is ecstatic to be signing a National Letter of Intent and joining his cousin Aaron Gant in Columbus.

Taurian Washington, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver confesses that he grew up as a fan of the Buckeyes, so there is no doubt that he is fired up to be signing his National Letter of Intent with Ohio State.

"I am very excited," Taurian said of his opportunity. "I just love the school you know. I love the staff and I love the players. They are just very cool. They have always been just straight up."

Washington racked up offers from schools like NC State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin and Illinois before issuing the Buckeyes his commitment.

The departures of Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzales to the NFL may have opened up the door for Washington to see some early playing time.

"I just want to go in, work hard, and accomplish all of my goals that I had set before with Ohio State," Washington said of his expectations in the first year. "I want to try to play my freshman year, and help Ohio State out however I can. I also want to get it done in the classroom."

Washington was always high on the buckeyes, but the official visit sealed the deal on his recruitment.

"I had a great time, they showed me a great time on the visit. They showed me the new things that are going to be on the campus. I like the new facilities. They are building a couple of new things like the weight room and some of the facilities. I got a chance to see the whole campus."

"I grew close with a couple of guys. Boom Herron, Donnie Evege and Rocco Pentello are some of the Ohio State recruits I am now friends with."

Washington has an idea of what he would like to study academically at Ohio State.

"I am going to study broadcast communications," Washington informed. "That is a career that I have always wanted to do. I always wanted to do communication for media, or some kind of sports management."

Washington will enroll in summer courses in June, so that he can go through summer conditioning with his new teammates.
