Future Buckeye: Brandon Saine

Brandon Saine is a speedy track star and a highly-acclaimed football player. Beginning this fall, he will take that hype with him to Columbus. Saine becomes one of at least 15 players to sign with Ohio State on signing day.

Brandon Saine, the speedy running back from Piqua, Ohio has signed his letter of intent to play for Ohio State.

Saine, a 6-1, 205-pounder has breakaway speed and also is a track star for his high school. Committing to the Buckeyes last spring, Saine was one of the earliest players to make a college decision in favor of Ohio State - picking the Buckeyes over Michigan, Pittsburgh and Northwestern among others.

"My first two offers were from Northwestern and Ohio State. They both offered on the same day, so it is hard to say who offered first, but it shows me that they were the schools that really wanted me," Saine told Scout.com's Greg Powers in May.

Clearly, love for the home school and the early offer didn't hurt the Buckeyes for Saine, who rushed for 1,895 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Saine hopes to crack the two-deep at Ohio State this season. It might be possible given the early departure of tailback Antonio Pittman. He will have to battle Maurice Wells for playing time behind sophomore-to-be Chris Wells.

Reportedly, Saine runs a near 4.4 40-yard dash and was clocked at the Indoor Track Championships with a 6.79 60-meter dash. Saine is the No. 11-rated running back in the country according to Scout.com.

"I would say that my speed is my strongest asset, but I am not scared to deliver a big hit," he added. "I love contact. I have a fast burst, but I want to also be known for my tackle breaking abilities."

We will have more coverage on Saine over the next few days and hopefully more quotes from the newest Buckeye running back.
