This week has been one of surprise for Trey Fairchild and members of the Dublin Coffman high school football team. While much of the interest has centered on offensive lineman Mike Adams and his verbal commitment to The Ohio State University, it also saw teammate Jacob Stoneburner continue to see his stock rise and most importantly for Fairchild, his first official offer during the recruiting process.
Going to school, working a job and continuing to keep in football shape keeps Trey Fairchild on the run but Wednesday night and Thursday allowed him some time to sit back and reflect on what had happen.
"I got word from my father about my offer. I was heading to work when he called and let me know Coach Crabtree just called with the news Coach Russ from Syracuse had called with an offer. I didn't' really have time to think much about it or to allow it to settle in, but when I got home last night I was able to reach Coach Russ on the phone and we spoke for 15-20 minutes." Fairchild explained.
"I called Coach Russ around ten last night and he explained Coach Robinson was very impressed with my tape and they could see I was able to do what they needed on offense. He said all of the coaches were sold on me and really liked what they saw from me on film as far as route running and my speed. They know it may be hard for me to camp there this summer but we'll see how things go and make a decision about that soon."
While Syracuse may have been the first to extend Fairchild an offer they won't be the last. Several programs are showing interest and Fairchild has interest is a few others.
"Right now I'm really excited about Syracuse but I also know there are other programs showing interest. I'm hearing from Louisville, Cincinnati, Boston College, Maryland, Duke and Northwestern. I'm also very interested in Tennessee and Purdue. Jacob Stoneburner and I had planned on taking a trip to Tennessee but had to cancel that trip and I really like what Purdue does on offense."
