"I had a great time watching the scrimmage," Magnacca said. "I was at Ohio State for the NFL pro day and coach [Jim] Bollman invited me back for the jersey scrimmage and also the spring game. I'm not sure if I'll make the spring game because of my track schedule."
Magnacca said Bollman is recruiting him for the Buckeyes. The two have corresponded through text messages this spring.
"I've known coach Bollman for a few years and we get along really well," he indicated. "We spoke through text message last week. He told me to come early and meet him at the indoor facility before going to the stadium for the scrimmage. We talked for a short time about how my track season is going. I'm hoping to go back for the spring game. I believe Ohio State is recruiting me as a defensive back or a receiver. I think most schools are recruiting me as an athlete."
Magnacca is a player who plays his best in big games. Against Massillon he rushed for 185 yards and scored 3 touchdowns, while he torched Canton McKinley for 130 yards rushing and scored twice. Magnacca, who is 5' 11" and 185 pounds, is one of the leading sprinters in Northeast Ohio with a 10.9 hundred-mter time to his credit. He is receiving interest from many Division-1 programs.
"I'm hearing from every Big-10 school but Michigan," he noted. "Kansas, Colorado, Syracuse and Akron are in contact as well. I went to a junior day at Akron last week. That went really well and I like their program a lot. Coach Reno Ferri is recruiting me and we talked for a pretty long time last week. I think they're recruiting me as a runningback. Coach Ferri said he would see me at the school in May. I visited Florida State last fall and they're still in touch too."
Magnacca has an ambitious camp schedule ahead of him and hopes to receive his first offer soon.
"I'll be at the Scout.com combine in Pittsburgh in May," Magnacca explained. "I'm also going on the Ted Ginn bus tour and I'm pretty excited about that. I'll be at the Ohio State camp again and I'll go to Akron for one day. My dad and I are planning some other camps around my summer schedule. I'm ready to get out there and compete against the top players and see where it leads."
