We talk all the time about offensive linemen and if Ohio State will be able to land any this year. One of the players we've been following has been Murfreesboro, TN's big guy, Kenyon Buford. Kenyon hails from Riverdale High School, and big is an understatement for him as he stands at 6-7. But how much is he interested in Ohio State? We talked with his father recently, and he said some pretty interesting things.
"Kenyon remains very interested in Ohio State," he said. "The only reason he has not been up is because of scheduling problems."
It turns out the family roots are deep in the Buckeye state.
"We have family in Ohio," Kenyon's dad said. "His grandmother lives in Ravenna. He has aunts and uncles in Ohio and has a cousin currently at Ohio State in the engineering program. Kenyon wants to major in engineering."
So where do the Buckeyes rank on his list of schools?
"We have sat down several times and looked at the schools that are showing interest," his dad said, "and every time, Ohio State comes out on top."
Mr. Buford also said though that many schools are contacting Kenyon.
"So many are in contact regularly," he said. "Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Arkansas... There are so many right now that I can't remember them all."
One of the problems Kenyon had earlier in the year was his weight, but he has come a long way in shedding the pounds.
"Kenyon is doing great getting his weight down," his dad said. "He has lost another 8 pounds and is at 338 right now."
Well fans, if you are looking for an out-of-state lineman that the Buckeyes have a great chance at landing, it sounds like Kenyon Buford could be your man. We'll definitely have to keep an eye on what happens here.
