Patterson checking out schools

David Patterson talks with Duane Long about his visit schedule and more.

David Patterson, the great DT prospect from Warrensville Heights, OH, has surfaced as one of the most sought-after recruits in Ohio.  Recently, he took a trip up to Michigan to check things out up there.  Where do the Wolverines stand?

"I never said Michigan and Ohio State are now even," David said. "I said Michigan was higher now. I got to spend a lot of time with coach Carr and getting to meet the players was great."

Buckeye fans shouldn't get too worried yet though.

"Ohio State is still my clear # 1," David said.  "I will be in Columbus this weekend."

Originally, David was scheduled to go take a look at Florida.  What is the latest on that?

"I tried to set things up for a Florida visit but it fell through," he said. "I won't visit now."

But there is still another Florida school in the thick of things. "I set up an official visit with Miami for October 12th," David said.

David enjoyed his trip to UM, and while he was there, he got to talk to a player who made himself well-known in the Big 33 game.  David told him things won't be the same in 2003.

"I met Steve Breaston," he said. "I told him Ohio will be taking it to PA next year."
