Studlien is also a standout wrestler and rugby player at Big Walnut. He carries a 3.8 GPA and has yet to take the ACT. He has run a 4.68 forty-yard dash and has a maximum bench of 405. He didn't attend any camps last spring and summer because of an ankle injury. He was disappointed in not being able to show his wares on the camp circuit.
"I couldn't get to any camps because of a minor ankle injury," Studlien said. "I had a few camps planned but I couldn't do it. I planned to go to Ohio State's camp and was really disappointed I couldn't make it. I had talked with coach [Luke] Fickell at school and told him I would be there, but it just didn't work out. I plan on going to a lot of camps next summer."
Studlien did not attend any college games last year and said he's extremely flattered by the interest he's receiving. He is a huge Ohio State fan and was thrilled to be visited at the school by the Buckeyes.
"Ohio State is my favorite team," Studlien exclaimed. "I watch a lot of college football but Ohio State is the only team I root for. Coach Fickell was in the school earlier this spring and that was great that he came to see me. We didn't talk much but he told me about his high school career and he was a state champion wrestler. He watched my film and said he was impressed. Coach Fickell is a great guy and we got along really well. I'm friends with Storm Klein and we've talked about how cool coach Fickell is."
. Studlien was surprised at the attention he received. Several universities stopped at Big Walnut inquiring about this tackling machine.
"I didn't think anybody even knew who I was until this spring," he admitted. "When schools started coming around asking about me I was very surprised. Pittsburgh, Akron and Bowling Green stopped by the school and took my game film. I'm receiving mail from Clemson and a few others."
Any sophomore that stands 6' 2" and weighs 220 pounds will draw recruiting attention. Add in the fact that Studlien made over 200 tackles and you have a player that everybody will want to investigate. Will Studlien is a player we will continue to track very closely at Scout.com.
