Spencer Ware is not new to the bright lights of Friday nights. Last season the athletic Ware powered the Vikings offense with 850 yards rushing and 11 TD's while also passing for 1,127 yards and four more scores.
Wednesday night Ware got his season off to a fast start running for50 yards on 2 carries and 2 touchdowns while helping Princeton to a 62-7 blowout of Western Hills. Ware would only play a little over a quarter of football on the night, but his skill level was easy to see.
Ware stands 5-foot-11, 202-pounds with explosive speed and body control. When he runs he's fluid and is hard to bring down. While the competition wasn't the highest he'll see this season, there were several very good athletes on the field that had problems controlling him.
While his running ability may be the reason college coaches come calling, Ware also has the ability to throw the football with a tight spiral and touch. On Wednesday nights game Ware was only called upon to throw the football twice connecting on one for a 48-yard gain. The play that impressed me most came on the incomplete pass where he went for wide receiver Jeff Duckworth in the corner of the end zone and placed the perfect ball only to see Duckworth come up short in making the catch.
While it's still early, keep an eye on Spencer Ware when you're looking for the young talent across Ohio.
