Holler talks visits and more

Offensive lineman Joel Holler is one of the highest-ranked recruits in the state of Pennsylvania this year. He's a mammoth player at 6-6, 325 pounds, and several schools have offered him a scholarship, including Ohio State. Where do things stand right now?

Joel Holler is a wanted man in recruiting circles.  You can tell by the phone calls he receives.

"I was talking to Frank Beamer just a little before you called," he said.

In addition to getting lots of calls, he is also working hard on conditioning.

"I am down to 325," he said. "I played basketball and was doing a lot of running, so I was eating more. When basketball ended, I was still eating the same, so my weight got out of hand. 348 is too heavy to be effective. I was getting up at 6AM to go in and work out on Mondays and Thursdays."

He didn't have any updated weight room stats though.

"I am doing real well in the weight room, but I don't have any totals for you," he said. "We are concentrating on explosion moves."

Joel's team, McCaskey High, is off to a 3-2 start.

"We are 3-2," he said. "We lost last Saturday and shouldn't have."

Joel talked about where things stand with recruiting.

"I have not taken any visits yet," he said. "I was supposed to go to Penn State last weekend but our Friday game got postponed by a storm and we had to make it up Saturday so I couldn't go.  I am going to set a visit up with Ohio State for the Michigan game."

"I have been hearing from Ohio State every week. I talk to coach Tressel and Bollman as well as coach Daniels when they call."
