The latest on David Patterson

Ohio DT David Patterson is one of the state's highest prospects. Duane Long caught up with him to find out the latest.

David Patterson, the DT prospect from Warrensville Heights, remains one of Ohio's most sought-after recruits, and he has the stats to prove it as both he and his team are having a good season.

"We are 5-2," David said. "We have a good shot at making the playoffs."

What about the sacks?

"I have 13 sacks now," he said.

Those sacks haven't come easy either as he has had to fight off double and triple-teams.

"I was very frustrated early on with the double teams and the triple teams," he said.  "My coach and teammates helped me get through it."

David has a big date on the schedule this weekend, and it is not just another football game.

"I am going to take my first official visit this weekend," he said. "I am going down to Miami for the Florida State game."

It's going to be a big game with some big-name recruits in attendance, one of whom is Miami commitment and #1 QB in America Kyle Wright, who told CanesTime.com that he is looking forward to meeting David and other recruits this weekend.  But it doesn't sound like David will be deciding soon.

"I am not in a big rush to make a decision," he said. "I want to be sure."

David also talked about the OSU coaches and his experiences at games this year.

"I am being recruited by Coach Tucker," he said. :He is a good guy. I have talked to Coach Tressel a couple times too."

" I have been down to Ohio State for the Washington State and Indiana games. The crowd was amazing for the Washington State game."

Ohio State and Miami seem to be at the top of David's list, so it will be interesting to hear what he thinks of Miami.  Stay tuned.
