OSU still leads for Guilford

Ira Guilford, the fine DB from Hoboken, NJ, has consistently mentioned OSU as a leader. Duane Long catches up with him for the latest.

OSU has traditionally had some recruiting success in the state of New Jersey, and it is looking like they have a good chance to continue the success with Hoboken safety Ira Guilford.  Guilford (5-11, 190 pounds, 4.42) is the Insiders.com's #19 rated cornerback, although he says he is being recruited as a safety for the most part.

" I am being recruited as a safety," he said, "but Syracuse and Penn State like me at running back too."

Ira has set up one official visit so far, and he has narrowed his list as well.

"I am down to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Syracuse, Maryland and Boston College," he said.  "I have only set up one visit -- Michigan State on Dec.13."

Ira has consistently mentioned that OSU is his leader, and that still is the case.  He talked a bit about Ohio State.

"I have been down to Ohio State," he said. "Twice. I was down for the spring game and for the advanced camp.  I speak with coach Tucker and coach Snyder at Ohio State. I have spoken to coach Tressel too."

OSU DB coach Mel Tucker is making a good impression on Ira.

"I like coach Tucker a lot," he said. "He is one reason why Ohio State is my leader."
