Miami Krop linebacker Etienne Sabino will soon be announcing his college choice. Sabino, who visited Ohio State this past weekend, will be graduating early from high school and plans to be enrolled by the start of winter classes.
"I'm definitely graduating early," Sabino reported. "I will be enrolling early and I plan on making my decision near my birthday on November 13TH. The time is coming soon and I know I need to start narrowing things down. Right now I'm still considering USC, Miami, North Carolina, LSU, Georgia Tech and Ohio State. I might be making my announcement on ESPN. They contacted me tonight and we're still checking to see if that might take place."
Sabino admitted his visit to Ohio State went as well as he could have hoped. He was impressed by what he saw in Columbus.
"The atmosphere was crazy," he stated. "I was surprised to see all the fans screaming my name and asking me for my autograph. Game day at Ohio State is amazing. It seemed everybody was wearing Ohio State gear as soon as I got off the plane. You could tell that Ohio State is the main thing in Ohio. The enthusiasm of their fans was tremendous. I don't have a leader but USC and Ohio State rate very high with me. My head is kind of spinning right now and I know I have a tough choice to make."
Sabino enjoyed meeting some of the current Buckeye players.
"I spent a lot of time with Ray Small and Nate Oliver," Sabino said. "They were great guys. All the Ohio State players were very cool. You might think they would be arrogant after being ranked number one all of last year and part of this year, but they were just down to earth guys. I think I fit in real well with all of those guys. I could definitely see myself playing there."
Sabino has been a Buckeye fan for quite a while. He spoke of when he first became interested in Ohio State.
"I went to Ohio State's camp before my junior year," he explained. "I won an award as the MVP of the linebackers. I liked everything about the school and the coaching staff. I have a friend who played for Jim Tressel at Youngstown State. He told me coach Tressel is a great man and a great coach. He said he's the type of coach that will help you even after you're done playing football for him. That means a lot to me and that's the kind of coach I want to play for."
Sabino spoke of what what will be the deciding factors in his choice of where to play college football.
"I'm going to go where I feel the most comfortable," he admitted. "I will go to the school that gives me the best chance to succeed. I'm not afraid of competition because great players only make you play better. I want to play early and I know that's up to me and how hard I work. I'm good friends with [Buckeye commit] Mike Brewster and he is always trying to get me to commit to Ohio State. He's always out there recruiting and he is my guy. It might be pretty cool to ber teammates with him some day. I have some tough choices to make and Ohio State is definitely up there for me. My mom was with me on the trip and she liked everything about Ohio State."
