Earlier in the week it was reported that DT Ricky Harris of Westerville (OH) Westerville South was a lock to verbal to the Fighting Illini but that's not the case…..just yet. That doesn't rule out the Illini, as he is warming up to Zook and his program, "I really like Illinois and Coach Ron Zook, he's a great guy, when we talked on the phone he talked about life and school with me. He really was just trying to get to know me as a person. We did talk football a little but it wasn't a lot," said Harris.
This past week has been a busy one for Harris, "I've really tried to learn more about Illinois from an academic standpoint, I know it's a great place for a college education. What may help me with Illinois also is my uncle lives close by, well Chicago and that's not too far from the school I don't think," added Harris.
Harris knows what two schools interest him the most right now, not saying that he won't give others a chance, "If I had to say today, I would say Ohio State would be number one and Illinois is number two on my list, but that's not saying I'm picking one over the other, it's just what's on my mind right now."
"Hopefully I will be able to get down there sometime this winter, but nothing has been set up yet. Illinois did offer me a full-ride scholarship to play for them, so I know they're very serious about me and my football career," added Harris.
There will be no commitment anytime soon for Harris. He added that when he's not working he's trying to watch as much college football as possible. We hope to have more on Harris as he decides on his college destination.
