Just when it appeared it was going to be a two-team race for Gainesville, Ga. defensive end Keith Wells, it appears a third team has entered the mix. Wells had narrowed his choices to Ohio State and Tennessee recently, before announcing his intention to visit Notre Dame next weekend.
"I will be visiting Notre Dame next weekend," Wells announced Sunday evening. "Recruiting is going good, but I'm starting to get tired of the pressure the coaches put on."
Wells, who recently de-committed from Florida State, has an in-home visit planned with Tennessee head coach Phil Fullmer. Last week, Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel visited with Wells in his home.
"I'd say it's kind of even between Ohio State and Tennessee right now," Wells stated. " There are things I like about both schools. Notre Dame is not too far behind. Coach [Phil] Fullmer, of Tennesse, will be visiting on this coming Wednesday. I could make my decision the day after the visit, or maybe next week. I'm not sure right now if I would make my decision, and cancel my visit to Notre Dame, or just wait and go see what they have to offer. I will know tomorrow exactly what I'm doing."
Wells, who canceled a trip to Notre Dame for this weekend, does not have an offer from the Irish, but was promised one if he took an official visit. At 6' 5" and 235 pounds, it's understandable why Wells is being so heavily sought after. Scout.com will continue to monitor the Keith Wells recruiting saga in the coming days.
