Recruiting updates -- Whitner, Hiley, more

We have recruiting updates for you on several players today... first off, the Glenville boys (Whitner, Hiley, Ginn), then a bit on Wesley Jefferson, and then a quick conversation with Joel Holler.

Some visit news: Donte Whitner and teammate Dareus Hiley have set visits with Miami for Dec. 20th and Michigan for Dec. 1st. They will visit USC together sometime in November and will visit Ohio State together sometime in January. Whitner will visit Notre Dame, but no word on Hiley's 5th visit yet. In addition, super junior cornerback Ted Ginn will join them for the Miami visit. He has now been offered by the Hurricanes.

Wesley Jefferson has had an interesting season. He talked about where things stand now.

"We are going to be making one game up," he said. "We will all have a total of 9 games, but it means playing 4 games in 12 days. We played Monday. The conditions were unbelievable. It was just above freezing and a steady rain. I had my first offensive plays of the year. I had 4 carries for 30 yards and a TD. I just missed an interception. Wet ball and a wet jersey... they just don't get along."

Nothing has changed yet as far as his visits go.

"I have set up 2 visits," he said. "Miami December 13th and Maryland December 20th. I am not sure about any other visits. With this schedule and then the playoffs I don't know when I will be able to do what. We are 6-0 right now so we will make the playoffs."

OSU coaches are still hot on his trail.

"Coach Dantonio is calling me regularly and has been down several times," he said. "Coach Tressel has been down once and I have spoken to him."

Joel Holler also talked with me about his season, and it turns out he has a very impressive streak going.

"We are 7-2 with a big game versus Redding this week, but chances are we won't make the playoffs," he said. "I have started 42 straight games. I started my first game as a freshman and have never been out of the starting lineup. I dislocated a thumb and had a cut on a defensive player's helmet that laid my arm open down to the bone and took 42 stitches to close, but I have never missed a game."

He is currently in the process of setting up his visits.

"I have 3 official visits set up," he said. "Ohio State for the Michigan game, Penn St on December 6th and Virginia Tech on November 30th. I am not sure about the other two. I visited Penn State 2 weeks ago but that was not an official visit."

He's still working out and getting contacted by OSU coaches.

"I am in the weight room and will take about a week off soon and then get right back to it," he said. "I haven't had any time off in forever. We are doing a lot of explosion movements."

"I speak to coach Daniels at Ohio State regularly."
