Plantation [Florida] star athlete Brandon McGee had a great day today, picking up scholarship offers from USC and Ohio State. McGee also ran a 10.49 hundred meter dash at his school track meet this afternoon.
"Today was a great day for me," McGee sad proudly. "I got offered by USC this morning, them I ran a 10.49 hundred at my track meet. After the track meet I called [Ohio State assistant] Paul Haynes and told him about my track time. He told me he got my highlight tape and watched it today. He said I will have an Ohio State offer in the mail tomorrow. I feel great to be offered by Ohio State. The only school that hasn't offered me yet is Notre Dame. I pretty much have everything I want right now."
"Everybody is offering me as a defensive back," he said. "What I really want to do is play both ways, like Chris Gamble did at Ohio State. I think I can contribute to my team by never leaving the field. I can run back kicks and punts, too. I did that as a freshman. I want to be valuable to my school and help win championships."
McGee is also planning a trip to Columbus, but might not wait until his senior year to make an official visit. He is also working hard on improving his academic record. He is qualified academically, but is driven to do better.
"I'm coming to the spring game for sure," McGee exclaimed. "I want to get up to Ohio State and see everything with the other Florida kids. I'm looking to take the ACT again and continue to raise my GPA. I have over a 3.0 in my core courses and will do better this year."
McGee is unsure of when he will make a decision, but did give a tentative schedule for making his decision.
"I've always planned on announcing on signing day, but now I'm not too sure," he admitted. "I've been talking to Brett Goetz, who is helping me with my recruiting, and I will narrow it down to ten by this summer. Then I will cut it down to five before my season starts. I plan on taking my five visits and going from there. I will definitely be visiting Ohio State, but I'm not too sure about any others."
Brandon McGee is a player that will be an asset to any school in America. He is a young man that is driven to succeed, and plays football to honor the memory of his mother, Hilda, who passed away from cancer a few years ago. Brandon is just as impressive off the field as he is starring on the gridiron.
