Buckeye Dreaming

One of Ohio's top interior prospects has yet to get the call from the school he grew up dreaming of. With eight offers in hand will he get the call he dreams of?

Ryan Spiker is like most kids who grow up just outside of Columbus and The Ohio State University.  Blessed with great physical size at 6-foot-4 and 295-pounds, Spiker has seen eight college football programs make offers to date.

“I’ve got offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, West Virginia, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Buffalo, Bowling Green and Miami Ohio.”

Having visited only two of the programs to have offered means the Tri-Valley product has a lot of ground to make up if he’s going to learn more about each program.  But while he’s excited about each of the schools to have extended offers to him, there is one program he’s made three visits to that he still wants to get the call from.

“My dream school that I’d like to be offered by is Ohio State.  I’ve been there three times (Jr. Day, Spring Practice, Spring Game) and have been told that I’m on the board but they want to see me in camp.  I’m scheduled to attend camp on June 20-th and see what happens.”

While Spiker plays on both sides of the ball in high school he knows the future looks more like he’ll be an offensive lineman.

“In high school I can lineup on the centers nose and use my quick step and strength to win match-ups.  But in college I’m sure I’ll be an offensive lineman.  My strengths right now I feel are that I can pass block and run block and I know I’m a better player on the offensive side.”

Another area Spiker may be a bit different in is his future plans.

“I want to go to college and study business and then when I’m finished I want to attend a small school that teaches diesel mechanics.  My brother and I both really like working on things and that is something I really have an interest in doing.”

For now Spiker will continue to work hard and be ready for his June audition to earn a scholarship from the Buckeyes.
