Great Week for Clarke

Dominic Clarke had been sitting on his first two offers from Maryland and Virginia since late April, however this week the Frederick, Md., native received three in one day, boosting his stock even more. These latest three offers could be the catalyst to burst his recruiting picture wide open and we spoke with him on Saturday about each of the programs.

Tuscarora High School cornerback Dominic Clarke went to school on Wednesday expecting it to be like any other day and it was, except for the small addition of three written scholarship offers from Ohio State, Stanford and Boston College. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound cornerback now holds five and may not be done for the month from what we're hearing.

"Coach (Darrell) Hazell from Ohio State came in and I talked to their defensive backs coach as well," Clarke explained. "I was actually at Ohio State for their spring game before they offered me and was very impressed with how organized they were there. Everyone knew who I was the second I got on campus and they even had a private visit set up for me with Head Coach Jim Tressel which was nice."

"When I met with Coach Tressel we just spoke a lot about academics and how much he liked my film," Clarke added. "The atmosphere at the spring game was unbelievable. It was pouring rain out, but people were filling up the stadium and really showing their support. They have been to two straight national championships and are really the top of the food chain in college football."

"A coach from Boston College was at the school and I was only able to meet with him very, very briefly. From what I've seen of them and read about they offer excellent academics and have a very good football program. I'll definitely be visiting there."

"Coach (David) Shaw from Stanford actually made two visits to see me which I thought was really special," Clarke stated. "He was at the school and then came back to watch my track meet as well. I've talked to him and Coach (Jim) Harbaugh and thought they were both good guys. They were really excited about me from what I could tell. With Stanford the first thing is obviously their excellent academics as a degree from there is the best you're going to find. They also play some great teams in a good conference, so you get a nice package of athletics and academics there."

Clarke isn't sure who could be next to offer, but did state that Pittsburgh wants him at camp this summer and Syracuse has been showing significant interest lately.
