Here's the chat transcript from today's chat:

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:03:48 PM)
Hi everyone!

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:03:54 PM)
Hi Kirk

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:04:44 PM)
Dave, does the media still get to watch practice at all?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:05:03 PM)
not right now... things might change for the bowl preparation

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:05:02 PM)
o-h

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:05:14 PM)
i_o!

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:05:34 PM)
Dave, what are your thoughts about the game Sat?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:06:08 PM)
i'm concerned, but i think the bucks will get the job done. the defense needs to hit beutjer early and often

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:06:15 PM)
The mood among fans on the Bucknuts board is pretty tense and jittery right now. I hope the team isn't as uptight as we are. What's the team's mood?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:06:47 PM)
they were pretty upbeat on tuesday. the "pressure" doesn't seem to be getting to them at all. seemed very focused and relaxed

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:07:17 PM)
How do you think the coaches will use Gamble this week?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:07:42 PM)
i think he'll be in there for 100 plays again if need be... hopefully we can get him some rest late in the game.

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:07:23 PM)
do u think we some new wrinkles in the offense, or the same ol' same ol' as last week?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:08:05 PM)
probably same old offense... maybe a few more shots downfield

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:08:16 PM)
Maybe Vance being back can help out with Gamble

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:08:43 PM)
i hope so kirk. i think everyone is expecting a good game from vance

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:08:47 PM)
Will the strategy with Clarett be the same -- play him until he gets nicked.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:09:19 PM)
not sure about reece. i think they should sit him until michigan and who knows how effective he'll even be then.

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:08:58 PM)
gamble's got nothin' on me. i go both ways for my flag football team, and i've got 4 games tomorrow! :)

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:09:26 PM)
thankfully none interfere with the game tomorrow

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:09:41 PM)
but do you return punts and kicks too?

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:09:53 PM)
lol no

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:10:30 PM)
Any shakeups on the o-line Dave? Sounds like that group did some soul searching this week.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:11:08 PM)
i think the o-line will come out fired up on saturday. i loved olivea's comments this week.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:12:08 PM)
but no shakeups on the o-line. stafford might be out for the rest of the reg. season schedule with injuried to both wrists.

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:12:40 PM)
To his wrists? That's kind of odd.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:12:49 PM)
yeah, i'm trying to find out more about it.

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:13:15 PM)
hopefully we can come out early and kick them in the teeth this week

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:13:40 PM)
Thinking back to that Purdue game, I'm not sure everyone appreciates how good Purdue's safeties were. By contrast, Illinois is really green at that position.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:14:07 PM)
good point. and purdue was run blitzing its safeties almost every play.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:15:06 PM)
Club question... what do you think about the e-mails? Do you want more or less of them?

OTC (Nov 15, 2002 1:15:17 PM)
i like the emails

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:15:43 PM)
more Kirk - their great. i really enjoy reading all of them

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:16:55 PM)
the club members info on the recruits could be spruced up a bit more IMO

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:15:07 PM)
i was very impressed with their overall defense - we could not do ANYTHING. It looked like the 2nd half against scUM last year.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:17:00 PM)
So Dave, which of the redshirted freshmen do you like to make the quickest and biggest impact next year?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:18:17 PM)
Penton and Holmes. Both will have a lot of studs ahead of them (I don't think Jenkins will go pro), but will make a big impact imo

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:19:05 PM)
Kirk: I also like Datish. Once he gets his pass pro down, he's going to be a force

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:18:26 PM)
The e-mails are great! Interesting story up here in Minneapolis today on why the U of Minnesota abandoned its old Memorial Stadium for the Metrodome in the early 1980s. The conclusion is that it's the worst thing the Minnesota athletic department ever did. Now they want a new on-campus stadium, but they can't get it done. Makes me really glad OSU renovated the Horseshoe.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:19:12 PM)
The Metrodome is a bit of a dud... I saw a couple of baseball games there once.

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:19:24 PM)
The Metrodome is the worst.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:19:50 PM)
For College Football, I can't think of a place that would be worse than the Metrodome.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:20:23 PM)
Jerry Rudzinski said during walk-throughs before the game, there would be tiles of turf sticking out and people would trip on them

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:21:16 PM)
Did Minnesota tear down its old stadium?

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:21:42 PM)
Kirk, the PD has a good story today on Mentor QB Thom Abbott. He hasn't gotten much love on the recruiting board, but that could change with a big game against Harding. The kid's a playmaker, big arm, good runner, 6-2, 180. Quiet kid, though, not much of a leader. (Mentor's my alma mater.)

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:21:56 PM)
Yes, Minnesota tore it down.

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:22:12 PM)
my brother went to Mentor

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:21:52 PM)
What about Schafer to OL?

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:21:16 PM)
Dave, how's Downing looked, and do you think Coleman will go OL?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:22:13 PM)
Coleman is pretty much already a o-lineman. he still works some with the te's, but he's going to be a lineman... downing looks ok. he's going to just keep adding strength and will be a solid player by that fourth and fifth year

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:22:16 PM)
Dave, do you think any of the OL's that are freshman this year will start next year. I know we don't lose anyone, but does someone have a chance to take over a seniors spot?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:22:58 PM)
I think you would have to say Rob Sims has a good chance at starting next year. Unless Clarke can lose a lot of weight

Burt (Nov 15, 2002 1:22:47 PM)
Dave, Do you feel that Clark's recent play keeps him in the starting lineup?

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:23:25 PM)
dave/mr bucknuts/kirk, which freshman redshirts will be key contributors next season in your opinion?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:23:39 PM)
Clarke is going to stay in the lineup because Stafford is hurt... But in fairness to Adrien, he has been solid most of the time this year. But he gets killed in pass protection

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:24:07 PM)
Are we gonna have to start stapling to some stomachs on the OL?

Burt (Nov 15, 2002 1:24:39 PM)
I thought that Stafford was 95% recovered.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:25:10 PM)
burt: stafford now has injuries to both wrists

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:22:05 PM)
kirk/dave... which freshman that are redshirts will be key contributors in your opinion next season and how many reshirts do we have at this point?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:24:47 PM)
gobucks: joel penton and santonio holmes in my opinion... and datish will provide good depth on the o-line... i'm also high on pitcock and j richardson, but our d-line is stacked.

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:25:05 PM)
It seems as if Krenzel has gotten us lest first downs with his legs lately. He had some great runs at the beginning of the season. Do you see that and have any idea why he seems to run less?.

Burt (Nov 15, 2002 1:25:25 PM)
What about Roy Hall?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:25:52 PM)
Roy is going to be a good player. But Santonio Holmes is the player mentioned first by the coaching staff. They love him.

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 1:25:58 PM)
Dave, how has the off. looked in practice this week.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:26:51 PM)
justwin: practice was closed to the media this week

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:26:00 PM)
Stapling stomachs is interesting but then they'd wind up being 160 lbs

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:26:00 PM)
It seemed like Purdue kept its defensive ends wider, forcing Krenzel into the middle of the field and limiting his running.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:26:22 PM)
I would also like to see Krenzel running more... Maybe they are concerned about too many hard hits???

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:26:34 PM)
Sorry Kirk - I couldn't resist :)

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:26:49 PM)
Well at least it might help with quickness...

Burt (Nov 15, 2002 1:27:28 PM)
Dave, Go out on a limb and give us the ILL. - OSU halftime and final score.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:28:31 PM)
Halftime score: 16-7. Final Score: 29-7

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:28:38 PM)
Bucks, of course

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:27:32 PM)
I'm glad the OL called a players-only meeting Sunday. They need to get pissed off, IMO.

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:28:04 PM)
Absolutely, UA. I think they're feeling a responsibility to the rest of the team.

OTC (Nov 15, 2002 1:28:23 PM)
Bollman called the linemen out during Sundays film session, apparently he struck a nerve

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 1:28:54 PM)
sounds good to me

ohio_pride (Nov 15, 2002 1:29:02 PM)
you better believe the KAISER is pissed, and so is Groom

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:29:07 PM)
Dave, a lot of things I have been hearing about D'Andrea seem to indicate that maybe he is the physical specimen we want, but can't do it mentally...what do you do with a guy like that?

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:29:10 PM)
I will live with 8-7 at this point though.

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:29:15 PM)
Pretty strong prediction, especially since we have been so terrible all year on the road!

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:28:51 PM)
Dave, do you think the team is spending more time this year on film study, etc., than in the past? Sounds like it, from the articles I read.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:29:23 PM)
Definitely Minnesota... All the players seem to be watching much more film this year. They have brought it up quite a bit.

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:29:44 PM)
dave biddle... why did we never pursue marcel frost harder? i mean, i know we have a soft verbal from irizarry, but frost is one of those guys who can play D in college or TE. your thoughts?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:30:12 PM)
not sure about frost... kirk and the boys are the recruiting gurus

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:30:25 PM)
I thought we're in on Frost strong. Did I miss something?

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:30:54 PM)
Dave, what are your impressions of Luke Fickell? Is he a rising star? What are his coaching responsibilities?

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:30:59 PM)
sorry dave i meant mr bucknuts/kirk

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:31:17 PM)
whats up with frost?

MrBucknuts (Nov 15, 2002 1:31:21 PM)
For the Frost discussion, we are also pursuing TE Jamesly Jean.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:31:32 PM)
Luke coaches the D-line (along with coach Heacock) and some of the special teams. I think Luke is doing a very good job and is a future D-I head coach.

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:31:34 PM)
the kid is one of the better players in ohio and we didnt pursue like we originally planned on

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:32:19 PM)
mr bucknuts... so why not marcel? did his stock drop or what happened?

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:32:27 PM)
It seems like they are starting to get back after Frost a bit, but I'm not sure what's up with how OSU feels about him.

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:32:42 PM)
Why don't we see JaJa more? Is he in the doghouse for any off-field reasons?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:33:45 PM)
We don't see Ja Ja because he's fourth string. Although some think he might be more effective between the tackles that Lydell and Mo Hall.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:33:03 PM)
Jean said OSU was looking at him for both sides of the ball, so maybe they are lukewarm on taking another TE

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:33:04 PM)
sorry iam late maybe question has already been asked but will we go after another big running back

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:33:05 PM)
Regarding the special teams, a lot of different coaches chip in. I know Mark Snyder is in charge of the punt block/return teams.

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:33:06 PM)
It seems like they are worried about Irizarry? They have stepped up the heat on a coupld of TE's

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:33:13 PM)
frost will end up at maryland i believe since we didnt grab him earlier

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:33:53 PM)
I keep hearing vague references to Lydell Ross having a toe injury. What's up with that?

bertobuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:34:20 PM)
JaJa is 4th...hard to expect in these close games he will get play....i think Mo Hall is a better backup than Ross

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:34:36 PM)
I don't see how JaJa can be LESS effective than Ross/Hall.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:34:42 PM)
Fumbles scare me with Hall and Ross

sneth (Nov 15, 2002 1:34:50 PM)
i am really starting to worry about the offensive line recruiting. when are we going to start offering some other guys rather than just the studs

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:00 PM)
Not sure about Lydell's toe. They've mentioned he had a minor foot problem and that is probably it.

k9doc (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:13 PM)
Dave, any word on Stafford's health. Seems like when he was in the line up early , he added mobility and was great pulling on many of MC's early runs. It seems our line has lost a lot of its ability to move against quicker defenders. Any plans to use him or Sims to help with this?

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:24 PM)
I see all this guys as to tenative hitting the hole

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:26 PM)
My question is this. Why don't we run those guys outside? It seems like they could outrun a lot of guys, but is it that hard to change the gameplan?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:37 PM)
stafford is out for the time being

bertobuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:45 PM)
hard to expect JaJa to be effective, since he's had single digit carries this late into the season, but i guess that depends on practice reps too, four guys is a lot to give

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:53 PM)
what happened with Carter, how did Bam C. jump over him? I thought Carter was a stud.

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:54 PM)
what about sims at guard

Burt (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:58 PM)
Mr. Bucknuts: What are the chances of Whitner, Guilford and Youboty doing a "package verbal"? I've read where they have been in communication with each other and are quoted as wanting to play together.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:35:59 PM)
I'm just starting to wonder if they feel they are okay at OL for now. Most of the OL are underclassmen, so maybe they don't feel the need to take many this year. I think they need to upgrade overall quality though. But the OL crop in Ohio doesn't seem to be that good.

OTC (Nov 15, 2002 1:36:45 PM)
how is next years ol class in ohio?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:37:03 PM)
not sure about drew carter. i was also surprised that bam got the call over him because carter has been more effective in practice... but i always like those big targets.

bertobuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:37:07 PM)
yeah carter is more of a threat then childress right now

fisherman (Nov 15, 2002 1:37:08 PM)
Dave, how's the attitude of the team this week? PO'd & ready to rock or ho-hum buisness as usual get it done and get to Michigan week?

sneth (Nov 15, 2002 1:37:13 PM)
but it just seems like a lot of the guys we are going after are all real studs and what are the chances of us getting most of them

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:37:22 PM)
OTC, apparently not that promising. Duane and I talked a while back about OL and one of the things that concerned him was the future of O-linemen in Ohio.

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:37:30 PM)
i think its funny how in pre season everyone was so high on our receivers... we have two studs (gamble and jenkins) and one good (vance) but the others are average at best.... carter has gator hands childress is undersized for osu.... we shouldve played holmes or hall instead of redshirting both

MrBucknuts (Nov 15, 2002 1:37:31 PM)
Burt: These "package deals" seldom eventuate. Yaboty definitely wanted to know when Whitner was coming though. You gotta like that...

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:38:01 PM)
hopefully the attitude of the offensive line is the attitude of the whole team because they are pissed. i think we can expect a team that is going to come out and play its best road game of the year (which isn't saying much of course)

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:38:09 PM)
I don't know if it would count as a package deal or not... they might all want to go to OSU regardless of what the other does

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:38:37 PM)
Hi Mr. B!

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:39:14 PM)
Dave, how do you see our linbackers stacking up next year. It seems as if we are going to be really thin there next year.

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:39:18 PM)
If Lloyd can't go, or is very limited, I like our chances much better.

MrBucknuts (Nov 15, 2002 1:39:20 PM)
Hi Dave...

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:39:39 PM)
I would like to see Lloyd sit, but I have a hard time thinking he'll sit this one out.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:08 PM)
Reynolds, Hawk and D'Andrea will start and Carpenter, Pagac and Bond will back them up. We'll be OK there in my opinion, a lot depends on how much d'andrea improves mentally

Burt (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:27 PM)
Dave, Has JT spending a few minutes at each practice preparing for scUM or have plans/plays all been focused on ILL?

bertobuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:35 PM)
i think we got studs at LB too....what about Safeties?

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:39 PM)
yea

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:43 PM)
Burt: He's says he doesn't, but you know he does

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:48 PM)
breeeee

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:52 PM)
leee leeee

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:53 PM)
Dave, any LB position changes, like maybe Brandon Mitchell to LB?

sneth (Nov 15, 2002 1:40:56 PM)
is d'andrea really having that hard of a time learning the system

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:41:17 PM)
he might not tell the team "This is for Michigan" but there are definitely plays put in for them this late in the year

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:41:33 PM)
Yesterday I dragged out my old tape of the 1996 Indiana game -- the Rose Bowl clincher. And on our first punt, a young Jerry Rudzinski is down there to down it at the 1-yard-line.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:41:47 PM)
Not sure about LB changes. Maybe Stan White becomes a full-time LB since we seem to be set at TE

bertobuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:41:48 PM)
thats what i like to hear...about the michie plays, DB

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:13 PM)
Dave, how do you think Roy Hall Jr. has been this year. He hasn't played becuase he is red shirting but he has been practicing with them and also during camp this summer he impressed the coaches...What do you think about Roy?

MrBucknuts (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:13 PM)
Who wants to hear from Buster Davis, again?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:18 PM)
D'Andrea is getting there... but it did take him a while to start feeling comfortable

Burt (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:31 PM)
Good! I would be disappointed if we didn't have something "special" for scUM!

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:32 PM)
Buster who?

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:34 PM)
No worries about D'animal not picking up the system real quick, it's a very complicated scheme

E (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:42 PM)
Hey Dave, it's Evan, your long lost photo companion. How's it going?

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:43 PM)
Maybe Davis and D. Morris can start their own team.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:42:53 PM)
I like big receivers and I think Roy is going to be a good player down the road. But right now Santonio Holmes is the more impressive player.

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:43:15 PM)
I dont know, Roy hasn't gotten a shot on the field yet. True??

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:43:16 PM)
Hey Evan!

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:43:30 PM)
I saw Santonio on the ball machine this summer - he was incredible!

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:43:31 PM)
whats real scoop on the freshman qbs who is ahead

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:43:46 PM)
I read Bob Davie's Football 101 regarding the zone blitz, and my head was spinning. Must take time for that stuff to be second nature.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:43:47 PM)
Troy Smith

k9doc (Nov 15, 2002 1:44:04 PM)
Will Chattams be back with the team next year?

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:44:20 PM)
Any chance they will use Smith next year as a "slash" type player?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:44:25 PM)
Who knows about Chattams. Even if he comes back, I don't think he plays much.

OTC (Nov 15, 2002 1:44:26 PM)
Angelo is redshirting

OTC (Nov 15, 2002 1:44:29 PM)

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:44:51 PM)
Right. He's still with the team, but some think he'll transfe4r

OTC (Nov 15, 2002 1:44:57 PM)
sorry about that my cat just laid on the keyboard

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:44:59 PM)
How about Marcel Frost. I hear OSU hasn't offered him because Louis Irizarry committed early. What do you think about Frost?

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:07 PM)
our receivers are weak.... only two truly talented

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:14 PM)
what????

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:23 PM)
gamble and jenkins

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:28 PM)
and Hall

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:31 PM)
vance decent

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:39 PM)
Gamble, Vance and Jenkins are all good players...not to mention the redshirts

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:41 PM)
Gamble, Vance, Jenkins, Hall, Holmes

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:45 PM)
Carter

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:46 PM)

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:46 PM)
Bam

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:45:59 PM)
john hollins will be a sleeper next year

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:03 PM)
hall and hiolmes dont play though i agree, both should not have been redshirted

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:05 PM)
I'm still waiting to see the reverse to Bam.

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:12 PM)
childress carter stink

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:18 PM)
It's not the receivers fault that they wont open up the offense

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:25 PM)
I think it isn't out of the question that Frost could still be a possibility for OSU. I think he's still interested, and OSU is starting to show a bit more interest

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:28 PM)
i agree

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:37 PM)
bam just is not used to his strenths

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:52 PM)
hes a mouse... what kind of strengths

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:46:58 PM)
Yea, Frost is visiting a bunch of other schools...O state better get on the banwaggon and give him an OFFER baby!

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:18 PM)
bubble screens quick slot passes

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:20 PM)
Try catching a mouse -- that's his strength.

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:33 PM)
hes not that good or he would be starting

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:39 PM)
Try throwing to a mouse...

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:44 PM)
Hah!

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:48 PM)
Has Vance looked ok this week?

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:50 PM)
and he dropped a few easy passes earlier in the season

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:56 PM)
no one said he should start just another weapon

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:47:58 PM)
exactly

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:04 PM)
and fumbles in practice, I heard...

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:08 PM)
who?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:10 PM)
surprised there is not more talk about dustin fox... all of a sudden, the corners are the strength of the team.

OTC (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:11 PM)
there aren't that many other receivers in the nation that would start over gamble/jenkins

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:14 PM)
bam

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:14 PM)
bam childress ryan

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:26 PM)
Will Fox stay at corner next year?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:31 PM)
i think he will

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:32 PM)
Where will Fox play next year?

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:32 PM)
childress wouldnt start at most of the big ten schools

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:39 PM)
So who are our safties next year

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:44 PM)
Fox -- one of a long list of amazing success stories this year.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:49 PM)
allen/matthews

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:48:59 PM)
Burgess...

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:03 PM)
no Mitchell or Salley?

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:06 PM)
prescott?

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:08 PM)
noone said he would start but he does bring a different tempo

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:09 PM)
salley and everett as well

E (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:10 PM)
Where do Salley and Everett fit it?

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:10 PM)
burgess?

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:10 PM)
What can you tell us about Matthews

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:14 PM)
That is amazing turnaround for the corners, eh dave

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:18 PM)
at safety

Bob (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:20 PM)
Will this chat be transcripted on Bucknuts.com?

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:23 PM)
is burgess coming here or what kirk?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:38 PM)
matthews is big and fast. same high school as gamble. converted linebacker.

MrBucknuts (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:52 PM)
Burgess will be here...

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:49:53 PM)
And what do you think about Lebron James?

MrBucknuts (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:04 PM)
James won't be here...

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:07 PM)
he is going pro ryan bball

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:08 PM)
Matthews sounds like Cie.

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:11 PM)
thats for sure

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:12 PM)
Is Jenkins gonna leave early?

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:17 PM)
i think he will

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:18 PM)
oh thanks gobucks

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:22 PM)
LeBron James will be in Columbus for the state finals, but that's about it.

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:22 PM)
ha

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:26 PM)
i don't think jenkins leaves.

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:26 PM)
Jenkins won't leave early

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:26 PM)
i agree

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:33 PM)
greatest non paid ball player in nation

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:37 PM)
will anyone leave early?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:44 PM)
I don't think so

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:50:44 PM)
"I don't recruit posses" - J. O'Brien

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:03 PM)
you could write that two ways and it would still be true

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:10 PM)
lol

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:10 PM)
what about Illinois scares you the most?

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:13 PM)
Bob, we'll have a transcript up

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:14 PM)
lol

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:21 PM)
That we play them on the road...

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:30 PM)
anyone ever see that ckip where lebron takes it down the floor and skies over that bald white kid at clev state and slams it down?

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:38 PM)
south Chicago :)

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:46 PM)
:-D

gobucks (Nov 15, 2002 1:51:58 PM)
its on espn all the time

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:01 PM)
Did OSU fans buy up the extra 10K tickets?

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:07 PM)
yea

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:13 PM)
Bucknutty: Their offense is clicking at the right time.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:16 PM)
I'm more scared about OSU than Illinois.

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:22 PM)
Amen Kirk

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:25 PM)
good point kirk

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:30 PM)
It's really all up to us

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:35 PM)
IS there any chance we throw more this week?

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:37 PM)
In other words, the way OSU played against Purdue scares me more than anything UI has

Ryan (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:39 PM)
GO BUCKS!!

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:40 PM)
O Line needs a wake up call

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:43 PM)
Purdue was my biggest worry.

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:52:53 PM)
Illinois' kicker averages 37 yards a boot -- that could be big.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:02 PM)
i would hope so bucknutty... especially since i don't think clarett will play

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:04 PM)
Punter, I mean.

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:12 PM)
agree with uabuck

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:23 PM)
IS Lydell hurting more than people know, physically?

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:25 PM)
How about a good start. This poor stretch has included a lot of letting the other team score first

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:27 PM)
Dave, you don't think Clarett will play?

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:33 PM)
you watch clarett will start

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:37 PM)
I hope MO C doesn't play. I would rather have him rested and confident for scUM

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:53:43 PM)
I do not think Clarett will play. I think JT is blowing smoke

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:05 PM)
not jt lol

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:13 PM)
I would rather they sit Clarett but reports say he'll start. If he plays, I am not holding my breath he'll play long.

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:18 PM)
Lydell doesn't look right...is he injured more than people think?

Bob (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:20 PM)
Dave, Will MoC dressed and ready?

bucrocks (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:23 PM)
i think they could use him as a decoy to throw the ball deep on 3rd and short

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:26 PM)
Illinois gives up rushing yards. Lydell should do fine

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:42 PM)
Yes, he will definitely dress... I hope he is able to play, just don't think it will happen

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:44 PM)
or 4th and short :)

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:54:57 PM)
Clarett at 50% is better than any other back we have...kinda sad.

E (Nov 15, 2002 1:55:15 PM)
Northwestern gave up rushing yards to murphinati...

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:55:20 PM)
Clarett at 50% is better than most backs anyone has...good for us!

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:55:26 PM)
although, that's as much due to his enormous talent too

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 1:55:26 PM)
would be more for most teams UABuck

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:56:07 PM)
How did Illinois turn it over 5 times to Wisconsin and win big? The wheels must be off the cart at Wisconsin. If UI does that this week, we rock.

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:56:14 PM)
I would take most other starting B10 TBs over Ross. Anyone disagree?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:56:23 PM)
Wisconsin was playing with a depleted roster

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:56:30 PM)
I'm with you UA.

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:56:30 PM)
Dave, In your opinion will we be able to replace Wilhelm and Doss next year?

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 1:56:51 PM)
Is D'Animal catching on yet?

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 1:56:58 PM)
Dave , wanted to say thanks for asking CK the glove question.

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:57:25 PM)
I swear Ross is not healthy

Bob (Nov 15, 2002 1:57:33 PM)
Message for Ross, Hall, JaJa and MoC (if he plays) -- TWO HANDS! We can't afford any turnovers!

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:57:33 PM)
How did larry Johnson rush for 300 yards, and PSU only score 18??!!

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:57:34 PM)
Replace? I don't think anyone will be as great as them, but Burgess and D'Andrea will be good enough for me.

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:57:38 PM)
I just think we try to use Ross and Mo C the same way and they can't run the same way.

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:58:28 PM)
Ross just doesn't see the cutback -- but I'm comparing him to Mo.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:58:29 PM)
Just win: No problem.

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:58:53 PM)
Message for CK - he has to hold onto ball too!!

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 1:58:56 PM)
suprised he blew it off as much as he did

E (Nov 15, 2002 1:58:58 PM)
Clarett finds a small hole and punishes, Ross and Hall need a bigger hole and our line is just to slow for quicker def. lineman.

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:59:00 PM)
IS there any chance the Bucks make a statement and pound Illinois or is it gonna be another grind it out game, in your opinion?

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 1:59:23 PM)
He predicted 29-7, FYI

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 1:59:23 PM)
Early turnovers could make it a blowout

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:59:26 PM)
29-7 is what he predicted I believe...

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 1:59:37 PM)
thanks UA, I was a late arriver!

Buckaubs (Nov 15, 2002 1:59:38 PM)
That's a pounding enough for me.

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 1:59:52 PM)
I saw the Illinois-Minnesota game. Hard to believe Illinois could've improved THAT much since then. They were manhandled by Minny.

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 2:00:06 PM)
kirk - you gonna predict? FWIW, I say 23-14

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 2:00:15 PM)
Can Minny handle Iowa?

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:00:20 PM)
I said 17-9 on the radio, I'll stick with that

E (Nov 15, 2002 2:00:25 PM)
How do you figure they get in the endzone? We haven't given up a TD 11 qtrs.

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:00:29 PM)
I don't think Minny can hang with Iowa.

BuckNutty (Nov 15, 2002 2:00:36 PM)
the 9 sounds good

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:00:42 PM)
Iowa will kill Minnesota I think

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:01:01 PM)
iowa is due for a close one

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 2:01:20 PM)
and the pressure is on

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:01:34 PM)
Half the state of Iowa is invading Minneapolis this weekend. They're all at the Mall of America Christmas shopping today. I-35 is packed with Iowa plates!

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:01:45 PM)
glad banks is a senior

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 2:01:46 PM)
I think Illinois tries to throw vertically. No one has done that since we started Gamble.

Bob (Nov 15, 2002 2:01:49 PM)
To lose, Iowa will have to beat itself.

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 2:01:51 PM)
Oklahoma should have beaten A&M. There is always hope

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:02:04 PM)
That is the rivalry game for Iowa, but after seeing what UM did to Minnesota, I don't think Iowa will have much of a problem

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:02:26 PM)
The Dome will be 50 percent Iowa fans, at least.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:02:30 PM)
I also look for a lot of vertical throws if Lloyd is healthy

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 2:02:43 PM)
if rutgers can hang with Miami anything is possible

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 2:02:58 PM)
If Cincy can hang with OSU...

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:03:00 PM)
50 percent Iowa fans and 50 percent empty seats :)

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:03:05 PM)
Hah!

Bob (Nov 15, 2002 2:03:35 PM)
At least Illinois didn't have 2-weeks to prepare (like Minn. & Purdue)!

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:03:41 PM)
minnesota: have gopher fans forgiven Mason for his OSU fling yet?

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:03:41 PM)
If Iowa can get past the violent suction of the doors of the Metrodome, they should be ok

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:03:47 PM)
Bob, no kidding.

Go-Bucks (Nov 15, 2002 2:03:52 PM)
prep time is huge good call bob

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 2:03:56 PM)
and wisky, bob

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 2:04:08 PM)
We play 12 weeks straight. Miami gets three bye weeks. Doesn't seem fair.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:04:11 PM)
Good point bob

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:04:24 PM)
UABuck, it isn't fair. Fire Cooper.

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 2:04:39 PM)
Good point Kirk.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:04:47 PM)
I'm just messing with you

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:04:49 PM)
Don't fire Cooper, the Bengals need him

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 2:04:56 PM)
Let's fire Rick Bay too

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:05:00 PM)
Dave, I could tell you a lot of stories about Mason antagonizing Minnesota fans -- and fans who are big contributors. Mason is a lot like Earle, when it comes to dealing with the public. Not very skilled. People don't like Mason up here, and they remind all the time that he's a Buckeye.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:05:11 PM)
I will say that Cooper probably knows more about football than any one of the Bengals' executives

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 2:05:28 PM)
the null set?

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 2:05:31 PM)
So do the Bengal cheerleaders, Kirk

Bob (Nov 15, 2002 2:05:33 PM)
Amen Kirk!

E (Nov 15, 2002 2:05:38 PM)
Kirk, that's why I'm a Browns fan.

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 2:05:45 PM)
the Bengals have executives?

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:05:57 PM)
Kirk: If he knows anything, he knows more than Mike Brown and the crew

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 2:06:12 PM)
Bengals braintrust - there's an oxymoron!

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:06:16 PM)
Ok, so my statement wasn't saying much :D

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 2:06:28 PM)
I thought it was a dog and pony show

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:06:29 PM)
Poor Dick LeBeau... He's a great Buckeye

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:06:50 PM)
If Brown would have gave him more to work with... who knows

UABuck (Nov 15, 2002 2:06:50 PM)
Good point Dave - he's in a no win situation.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:06:56 PM)
The Browns/Bengals game has certainly been overshadowed

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:07:08 PM)
The Browns are going to kill them

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:07:35 PM)
Are a lot of Chicago Buckeyes going to be in Champaign?

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:07:37 PM)
It's good to see everyone is focused on Illinois. That's one thing I like about the Buckeyes; I think they are focused.

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:07:45 PM)
Coming from a Bengals fan that hurts to say, but Butch Davis has two weeks to prepare for a bad team

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 2:07:49 PM)
they can't the Bengals garunteed another victory this week

Bob (Nov 15, 2002 2:07:53 PM)
Kirk & Mr. Bucknuts: What is your pre-game advice to JT?

MrBucknuts (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:11 PM)
Get a wind breaker and not the vest...

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:21 PM)
If he listened to my advice we should all be very frightened

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:26 PM)
lol

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:28 PM)
New subject..did Wilhelm get shafted not being Butkus award finalist, or does he fall a little short.

MrBucknuts (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:36 PM)
I don't even listen to Kirk's advice...

justwin (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:42 PM)
more so for Groom

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:44 PM)
Lehman has nothing on Wilhelm.

Kirk (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:47 PM)
I don't even listen to my advice

D Biddle (Nov 15, 2002 2:08:54 PM)
I was a bit surprised Wilhelm was not a finalist

murphinatl (Nov 15, 2002 2:09:25 PM)
seems like he is in the same league as some other OSU greats, but lacked the pub

TheMinnesotaBuckeye (Nov 15, 2002 2:09:34 PM)
Exactly.

Bob (Nov 15, 2002 2:10:00 PM)
Wilhelm will play on Sundays!
