For months it didn't look as if Sam Longo was going to pursue an offer from The Ohio State University. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound offensive lineman from Bellbrook High School (Ohio) held an impressive offer list with no plans to make an appearance in college summer camps. After a visit a few weeks ago at Ohio State, the plans took a turn and on Wednesday Sam Longo worked out at his first and only camp of the season.
"About three weeks ago my father and I visited Ohio State. While there Coach Bollman said he really liked what he saw on tape and wanted to see me in person. After thinking it over we planned to make one camp visit and that was at Ohio State."
While the appearance of Longo surprised many, the results of the day went well.
"We got there today and they had me do the 225-pound bench. I did 22 reps and then I got with Coach Lichter for a few drills before going out and doing some one-on-one work on the field."
Just a short time ago Buckeye fans saw another Ohio prospect earn a Buckeyes offer after a camp visit. What was the outcome of Longo's visit?
"They said they really liked what they saw today and are waiting until after Friday's senior advance camp to let me know what they're going to do. It was a very good day and Ohio State is very impressive."
What's next for the Longo Tour? And what will Sam do if the Buckeyes offer?
"We're headed to Penn State right now for a visit. If Ohio State would offer my family and I would have to talk about it. I still plan on finishing all the visits we've planned before making a decision."
We'll continue to follow what is happening with Sam and report if the Buckeyes make an offer.
