Barnett Has "X" On His Back - Action Photos

Clayton (OH) Northmont cornerback knows some will be gunning for him this fall. How is he taking it? We check in with Barnett during a 7-on-7 event at Springboro High School.

When you’re a physical player with skills that earned you an early scholarship offer from The Ohio State University prior to your senior season, you know some will be out to prove their better.

For C.J. Barnett opponents have already taken notice prior to the season even starting.  It was on Tuesday that Barnett and his Northmont T-Bolts teammates took to the field turf of Springboro High School with Barnett having an “X” on his back for opposing teams.

“I’ve heard a lot of talk already,” Barnett said Tuesday night between games.  “All I can do is keep working hard and let the rest take care of itself.”

Opponents of Northmont this fall will have to face more than just the Ohio State pledge when they battle on the field according to T-Bolts head coach Lance Schneider.

“C.J. is a very special player, but we feel we’ll have a very strong defense this season.  We’ve got some work to do on offense, but defense should be our strongest area on the field.”

Keep in mind Schneider has built a program at Northmont based on a high power offense and has seen several very talented players power that offense.  This fall the quarterback position will be manned by senior Chase Belton who’s shown better running skills than passing skills so far in limited playing time. Barnett knows the “X” on his jersey is bigger than ever.

Fans will get a chance to see Barnett and his teammates in some high profiled games this fall as Northmont will battle against St. Ignatius, Westerville South, Wayne and Centerville to name a few.

Barnett said he’s talking on a regular basis with two other Buckeye commitments.

“I talk with Storm Klein and Jamie Wood all the time.  We’ve got a great class and I’m excited about it.”

Here are a few photos from Tuesday’s action.
