2010 Falcon LB getting interest already.

TPI traveled to Veterans Memorial Stadium Thursday night an watched Clear Lake beat Dickinson 30-7. Afterwards we caught up with Junior Linebacker Jonathan Witten to get his thoughts on the win as well as a recruiting update.

The Clear Lake Falcons have had their fair share of Division 1 college football prospects in the last few years. With a strong Junior class already drawing interest from across the country, the next few years should be no different.

Junior Linebacker John Witten is one of those prospects. Witten who stands 6'2 and is 210 lbs. has helped lead the Falcons to a 5-2 record this season and a 3-1 record in district 24-5A, including Thursday's big win over Dickinson.
The win put the Falcons in control of their destiny in the race for the district title, something Witten is happy with.

"That would be great, we haven't had a district championship in a few years here, I would just love to get one with this team while I am here. I love this team, we work together great and we are a family"

The Falcons defense held their own against the Gators, giving up a touchdown on the Gator's initial drive then holding them scoreless the rest of the way.

The defense really held it down I think. I was proud of us." said Witten.

Witten is already hearing from several schools and his play on the field has led to recruiting picking up.

"I went to visit Ohio State last summer, and I plan to go to Junior Day at multiple places."

The list of schools he has had contact with is pretty impressive as well.

"I'm hearing from LSU, Arizona, a little bit from Ohio State since I visited there, Texas Tech Colorado State and some others."

I also asked if there was anyone that he had not heard from yet that he would like to hear from.

"Oklahoma. I love Oklahoma. Also Florida, they are one of my favorite teams as well."

Witten and his Falcons teamates travel to Brazoswood this week, then finish with Clear Creek at home for Homecoming, and he knows those two games are not to be taken lightly.

"Everyone knows it's hard to go down to Brazoswood and win. We really have to prepare for that game, we can't under estimate anyone. Then we have Creek, that's always our favorite. We have lost to them the last couple years, so it will probably be our biggest game all year."

Stay tuned to TPI for all your news on Clear Lake as well as how Witten's recruitment plays out.
