Corey Adams arrived Monday in Orlando, Florida for Under Armour All-America game in Orlando. He is rooming with fellow defensive lineman Justin Chiasson. Adams is a 6'3, 280 pound five star prospect out of Sahuaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is known as a bit of a 'freak' athlete with solid speed and eye-popping weight room numbers coupled with an explosive first step.
Today was the first day of practice and he said, "it was a good practice, it was real high tempo, it did not feel like three hours at all." Adams made a big play today shooting the gap and slapping the ball free from QB Richard Brehaut.
While focusing on his top three he stated, "I have good relationships with all three, with all the coaches. I had a lot of fun on my official visits, I saw everything I wanted to see. I liked all three and now it is really just a waiting game on my part, I just have to figure out which one. It is definitely going to be a hard choice."
Adams has played his recruiting 'close to the vest' and at one point had planned to announce this weekend, however he told me "I think it will be more a signing day decision, I was hoping to announce here, but I am really not ready, I just have to keep thinking."
An interesting aspect of his top three is one is a hometown school, another is relatively close, and the third is across the country. We discussed if distance would be a factor, "That aspect changes everyday, some days I think it will be fine and others I won't. I have talked to friends or people I know who have went away and sometimes it is good, sometimes it is bad."
It is safe to say that Ohio State, USC, and Arizona State will be actively recruiting him until the last possible moment and he is genuinely undecided right now.
