Recruiting Update - Kevin Brown

Kevin Brown is one of California's top line prospects. He chatted with Duane Long about OSU and more.

Long Beach Poly HS is known for turning out some of the best high school talent in the country.  OSU is in on one of their better recruits this year, DT/OL Kevin Brown.  Brown has his visits set up and is curious about the Midwest.

"I spoke to Coach Spencer and we set up a January 10th visit," he said. "All my visits are set up for January. I have trips set for UCLA and Florida State too."

What makes him interested in Ohio State?

"They and Michigan were in on me early," he said. "I wanted to see a Midwestern school and was going to visit Michigan, but that didn't work out so I decided on Ohio State because they stayed after me."

Naturally, the next question to any player coming from a distant state with a warm climate is if there is any concern about the cold weather or if it is too far away.

"I am not worried about the weather or the distance from home," Kevin said. "My brother plays for Syracuse, and he says it is no big deal. Ohio weather is about like New York weather."

Kevin can play on either side of the ball, and he is getting looks on both sides.

"UCLA and Ohio State are recruiting me for defense," he said. "All the other schools want me for offense. It makes no difference to me."

Is early playing time an issue?

"Playing time would be great, but if I have to redshirt, that is fine," he said.

Finally, Kevin let us in on what he wants to major in, and it's an interesting one.

"I plan on majoring in zoology," he said.
