So What About OSU Spring Football?

Jim Tressel will offer his first spring practice thoughts later today, but I preempt him with my own musings on potential questions, developments and new faces about to get closeups as the Ohio State football team begins shaping itself for 2009.

April has arrived, which can only mean it's time to talk football, right? Well, at Ohio State today it does as Jim Tressel will hold his first spring press conference at noon. Be sure to come back to for all the information that comes out of that little gathering, first with some of the juiciest information on our "Ask The Insiders" message board then in story form later, but if you can't wait, I've got plenty of thoughts of my own on what is in store for this season before the season.

Offense is the hot-button issue, with the status of Terrelle Pryor at the top of most people's lists of questions for the Buckeyes, but how other new faces like Mike Adams, J.B. Shugarts, Justin Boren, Jack Mewhort, DeVier Posey and Boom Herron (just to name a few) find their way into new or expanded roles will be crucial as well.

Read all about that in this Cus Words blog post.

On the other hand, great defense has been a mainstay at Ohio State under Tressel, but All-Americans like James Laurinaitis and Malcolm Jenkins don't just fall out of the sky. Who replaces them - and how they are asked to fill the roles thos studs played - will be points focused upon this spring.
