"Recruiting is going great for me to tell you the truth," Grimes told BuckeyeSports.com. "I have offers from Louisville, Purdue, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Oregon and Texas Tech. There might be a few more."
Recently, Ohio State has also begun to initiate contact with Grimes, who is impressed with the Buckeye program.
"I talked to (safeties) coach [Paul Haynes] the other day and he said he will be coming to my school next week," Grimes said. "Ohio State is a great program and they have a great, winning tradition. An offer from them would be really exciting to me.
"Coach Haynes seems like a great guy, and I've heard a lot about him from some of the other Florida guys he's recruited. He is a college coach but I also see him as a friend, a guy I can talk to about a lot of things, not just football. I'm really looking forward to meeting him in person. I'm definitely very interested in Ohio State and I'm hoping they give me an offer."
Grimes also spoke of some of the schools that haven't extended offers to him, but that he is interested in.
"I'm interested in Michigan, LSU, Oklahoma State, Miami, Florida and Florida State," he said. "Of the in-state schools I like Florida State the best, but I like the other two as well. I also visited Georgia for the spring game and that was a great experience. I think a lot of Georgia."
There has to be a reason Grimes is drawing interest from the schools he has recruiting him, and he listed his strengths on the football field.
"I think college coaches like the fact that I'm a student of the game," Grimes said. "I'm very competitive on the field and I think I have great technique playing the cornerback position. I have good athleticism and long arms. I also take my academic career very seriously and schools appreciate that a lot."
With offers from all across the country, Grimes needs to decide if he would be willing to leave his home state to play college football.
"At first, I had a real problem with going away from home," he admitted. "As I've matured as a person I'm now far more open to just finding the right school for me, wherever that might be. The most important factors in choosing a school will be the coaching staff and the depth chart. I don't really want to have a list a favorite schools at this time. I'm really wide open and looking for the school that wants me the most."
