On Pressure Defense Past and Future

Ohio State fancies itself a pressure defense, but the preponderance of zone over the years has left some people to question such a label. Last year's defense thrived when the pressure went up a notch, but is the right personnel there for a repeat in 2009?

Maybe more interesting than the debate about how the 2009 Ohio State offense will be configured is the discussion regarding how aggressive the defense will be this season without some key big names.

Though less talked about, the issue probably contains more variables as talented players like Thaddeus Gibson, Nathan Williams, Brian Rolle, Jermale Hines, Tyler Moeller and others take new or expanded roles and veterans such as Kurt Coleman, Anderson Russell and Doug Worthington come back for one more go round.

The topic is covered in the latest post in the Cus Words blog.
