Tony Grimes Lands Buckeye Offer

Hollywood Hills [Fla.] star defensive back Tony Grimes was offered a scholarship by Ohio State Thursday. Grimes was visited at practice this week by Buckeye assistant coaches Luke Fickell and Paul Haynes. Bill Greene has the update on Grimes' situation.

It took a while but Hollywood Hills [Fla.] star Tony Grimes has received an offer from Ohio State. Grimes is one of the hottest prospects in America, adding offers weekly, including Miami, Georgia, Alabama, and several others.

"Yes, Ohio State did offer me today," Grimes reported Thursday. "Coach [Luke] Fickell and Coach [Paul] Haynes stopped by practice yesterday. I feel I had a very good day and I was hoping they were impressed. I called Coach Fickell today and he told me Ohio State was offering. I'm excited to be offered by Ohio State. It was one I wanted badly."

Grimes, 6-1 and 185 pounds, is being recruited as a cornerback by the Buckeyes. Grimes is not ready to name an official favorite list, but admitted that one school is in the lead for his services.

"I really don't want to name a favorite list at this time," Grimes stated. "If I had to pick a school at the top it would be Georgia right now. I visited there a while ago and loved it. Ohio State is very high in my mind and I'm planning to take an official visit there next fall, probably for the USC game. I'm in no hurry to make a decision and I won't decide until after I take all five official visits."
