Schofner Hears from Ohio State

Skyler Schofner, one of the top offensive linemen in Ohio, is considering South Carolina, Kentucky and Michigan State. Ohio State made contact last night. Where do the Buckeyes stand with Schofner? Bill Greene has the latest.

Sunbury (Ohio) Big Walnut senior Skyler Schofner, one of the top offensive line prospects in the Midwest, is drawing heavy recruiting interest.

Schofner, 6-foot-6 and 285-pounds, has narrowed his list to three schools, but last night a new school resumed contact, clouding the waters somewhat for this top prospect.

"Ohio State called last night," Schofner said. "It was (offensive line coach) Jim Bollman and he surprised me by calling. I hadn't heard from them in a while and I thought things were dead with them."

"He mostly asked me how things were going and that he noticed I had a great senior season. It was good to hear from him, but I don't know what to think about them. I like them, but it seems like they are off and on with me. Coach Bollman said an offer could be coming and he wants me to wait it out a little while."

Schofner had a great senior season and this has caused the Buckeyes to take a second look at him.

"I had pretty much narrowed things down to Michigan State, Kentucky and South Carolina," Schofner said. "Coach Bollman told me to not rule out the Buckeyes and to give him some time to review my tape. I really don't know what to do, but if they would invite me in for an official visit I would go. That would probably be the best thing. I want to make my decision pretty soon so I'm not sure where this will go. Ohio State told me they want to take three linemen and I'm one of four candidates, but the other three guys have offers. I need to do some thinking about this, but that call definitely got my attention." will continue to monitor the situation and report further developments.
